How do I get to the lighthouse?

I know that I need to keep away from Jefferson's flashlight and keep moving but keep moving where? I don't see anywhere to advance to.

It's a linear path. There's nowhere else to go. If you hit a dead end, just backtrack a bit.

it's cause it's frigging dark in there, at least for me.

however,
the exit of the first maze is at North East, but you can't see it just by walking straight.

when you start, go straight until you see a bed.
facing the bed, go to the right, then left . on your left you'll see another jefferson.
go past him and you're done with the first part.

You don't technically go to the lighthouse. It goes to you. There's a lovely bench for you to ponder your journey.

But yeah, follow the path. If it were easy, it's be a yellow brick road, but that's the wrong story, and not the point.

Well I just did it a few moments ago and it is not that hard. With a little practice you can easily avoid the flashlights by using your rewind power. And like someone mentioned before its more or less a linear path ...

I too got frustrated with the beginning part, then realized you have to trail behind the Jeffersons. Yes there are more than one. I think there are 3. It's an irritating nightmare world where you sometimes backtrack away from the lighthouse to go forward.

The people with the most sense of direction will get tripped up, because it does loop back on itself with impossible hallways. (it sometimes feels like you're walking back to the start position, when you're totally going the right way).

Basically when you start you are out of sight of Jefferson, he is close but if you turn around and look behind you there should be a place off of Jefferson's path that he will never find you. All you need to do is wait there for a while and the reason you need to wait is the path to the lighthouse does not open up at first, and that path is very close to where you will be waiting. Soon the path will open after Jefferson makes a few rounds on his path, and I am not certain but you might even need to let him see you once and rewind before the path will open up.

I hate this part with a passion and I wish Dontnod would have done it a bit differently but that is not part of this topic so I won't comment further on that front.

Jefferson's path is straight forward and if you watch him you will see he just has a path he constantly follows and that one spot off to the side of his path he will never see you there, it is a little "alcove" off to one side of Jefferson's path. So all I do is wait there for a while then go out and look to see if the path to the lighthouse is there now, because like I said it is NOT there when you first start the maze, you need to wait for it.

Also it really helps to look UP and see what direction the lighthouse is, you can clearly see the light from the lighthouse from anywhere on the map so just keep heading towards it.

FYI, I think they are in a looping pattern, which for this being a (puzzle) game like other games, you should be able to figure the pattern. You may need to be prepared for sudden stops, rewinds, find cover, and correct timing to avoid being detected. There isn't any one route, and should you be "caught", you're transported to that area's spawn zone.
