(Spoilers) Should Kate be alive at the ending?
Max used her knowledge from the future to save Chloe and that coused the tornado, because she changed ones destiny.

To extinguish the tornado, Max go to the past and let Chloe die, puting the universe in order.

But without the knowledge of the future she shuldn't be able to save Kate too, she shouldn't eaven get to the rooftop in time to talk to her.

Kate being alive at Chloe's funeral means that Max saved her, changing her destiny with knowledge of the future.

So shoul'd it have coused another tornado?

The whole rewind time mechanic of the game is based in the fact that Max (you) retain all the knowledge and the conscience about what happens (happened) in the timeline.
So, it kinda doesn't matter what's going to happen after that last decision. Max still having her powers and being able to do and that rewinding puzzles again if she needs to, but she will no more being your avatar in the decision.

The game is about that Chloe is supposed to die and Max has to understand AND accept that. In another way someone's or everyone's life will be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up. Which is exactly what happens in the "Sacrifice Arcadia Bay" choice.

That's why I choose to "Sacrifice Chloe". I was really trying to keep her alive, but was concerned about Kate and the others too. I can't just kill everyone I was trying to help. It would be selfish, exactly as Max's conscience has said.

Because you didn't save Kate using your powers. Remember you lost your powers, right?
So, you actually saved her with your own choices and speech the first time.
Later when you talk to her in the classroom for the last time you just say to her you are her friend and hug her, that isn't saving, this is just being friendly and a hug, the consequence was not your direct response...
Chloe was meant to be dead, a shot is a shot.Suicide is a decision, an "arbitrary" thing, mental state, it's not fate.
Suicide is not fate.
Dying is. There's a difereance.

This is a popular question, but I believe that Kate wouldn't have attempted suicide originally because if Nathan shoots Chloe he rats out Jefferson and the whole plot is uncovered. Kate probably wouldn't have attempted suicide if she felt like people actually believed her and if she got the help that she needed (which she would have because the authorities would realize she had been a victim). So, basically letting Chloe die may also inadvertently keep Kate from trying to kill herself in the first place.

kate's suicide attempt never happens in the "normal" timeline (teh one in which chloe get shot and max doesn't interfere ) cause nathan and jefferson got in jail ,the truth is uncovered and kate's mom will sure comfort her instead of blaming her ,so there's no reason for kate to go on the roof

Mr. Jefferson and Nathan are arrested in the sacrifice Chloe ending, so people presumably find out that Kate was drugged and taken advantage of so her family doesn't disown her and people stop bullying her (If you save Kate, they stop bullying her because she tried to commit suicide. So I'd assume they'd stop bullying her if a creepy teacher drugged her and took photos of her half conscious)

Edit: Scooter and Zephyr beat me to it

That is what the photos at the end of sacrifice Chloe implies - Nathan kills Chloe, gets arrested, gets interrogated, then Mark is arrested.

As others have said Nathan and Jefferson are taken care of and what they did to Kate is uncovered if Chloe dies, so therefore she doesn't get shamed as being a "viral slut" and is instead a victim of a drugging. Also that conversation with Jefferson in episode 2 is quite clearly Jefferson intentionally antagonizing Kate so that she keeps quiet or tries to kill herself so him being there to antagonize Kate was a major factor in her suicide attempt.

This is why Kate and Victoria show up at Chloe's funeral. They respect and mourn Chloe's death because it is what exposed Jefferson and Nathan... Victoria probably felt especially ♥♥♥♥♥♥ for what she did to Kate, and that she provided support to Nathan now that she knows what he was doing.

Just to put this to bed, Jefferson getting arrested seems to remove the need to save Kate.

This is from the original timeline, assuming you save Kate.

This is from the timeline where you get Jefferson arrested by messaging David.

It seems that the whole suicide attempt never happens, since Max has no messages from Kate thanking her for rescuing her.
