How do you prevent David's scar?

In the "confrontation" scene, your choices apparently can prevent David from taking a hit to the face and gaining a scar. Anyone know what those choices are? I've tried everything.

Thanks, I actually just read another post about that. I kept warning him, not realizing that it was affecting the outcome wrong.

It's a tripod, I think. But yeah, happened to me, too. I warned David like as soon as I possibly could, and Jefferson was still close enough to me to yell, "Time for you to shut the ♥♥♥♥ up!" and swing it at me. Kinda amusing.

I always do that too. It's almost like i can't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥' play that game without doing it like 4 or 5 times at minimum.
