I can appreciate that some may not be fans of a deliberate homage/imitation of the art style of another artist, however this is the art style I have personally been using for more than a decade, and is the most "honest" way for me to draw characters. I am a lifelong horror manga fan, and my art style reflects this (not just Junji Ito, though I realize that he is the most well-known in the west, and the most likely to be recognized from the various references in the game).
None of these images are traced, it is just the way have always drawn characters. Junji Ito has a very recognizable and formulaic (in a good way) approach to illustrating characters, so knowing how to illustrate in this way leads to very consistent results. A good comparison would be the recent game "Tales of Mistria", and its imitation of Rumiko Takahashi's art style.
I do intend to keep the horror manga style, and with Junji Ito being my biggest influence, I expect (and intend for) the art to be compared to his. So far, it seems that most people like the inclusion of characters that are imitating his style and it has become a major selling point for the game, but I realize that it wont be everyone's cup of tea.
"World of Horror" is a major influence as well for this game, and so direct references to Ito's character style is sort of continuing an existing tradition.
As someone who actualy read pretty much all of Ito's work and earlier horror masters before him: if you can't even name Tomie [who main character looks similar to] then you clearly don't have enough clue to be throwing allegations.
Trying to claim 'realistic eyes with simple lines' as somehow exclusive to Ito and not a branch of manga artstyle is laughable. Please stop throwing accusations with not substane, you can really hurt someone's reputation.
