It was pretty much at 400 for the whole day, alot of them are likely passed out, bugs wouldnt keep players actually in the game the whole day.

The 1st day of any game always has the most number of players. By the 2nd or 3rd day, a good rule of thumb is that 40 - 50% of those players will have dropped the game.

As good as the gameplay is for this game, Yata will likely be a 80 - 100 average playerbase sort of game once everything settles. (The implementation of ggpo should help in regards to the smaller playerbase, so hopefully that happens soon.)
It's a small indie release, launched in an atrociously user-unfriendly way, and it's just a fighting game.
80-100 people is very generous. This game will be just as dead as the kof releases soon enough. If you want to keep playing this game add people to your friends lists and ask to play.
That is taking into account if we just leave the players to their own demise, we aim to be alot more engaged with the players, resolve some of the problems that the userbase had, add GGPO, and do events.
I'm loving the game! Anyone who enjoys fighting games should pick this up. Getting it set up is worth the online as I never have lag. Appreciate what you are doing jay_rab, looking forward to updates.
Despite what I said up there, despite the inexcusably bad launch (this is one), I did have fun when I got to the game. I had to get past crashes and other issues for that, but as a heavy NON-fan of fighting games, it wasn't bad, the core gameplay. Potential is noted.

What kind of visual filters are available for this game?
Yeah, avoiding this game simply due to the poor usability issues that were deemed acceptable on release. Never release a new title without basic usability at the very least, you don't get back that first impression. Probably should have delayed the release until these basic features were added.

Just that could result in a much smaller potential player base even if the core game is good and things are sorted out in a timely manner. Players are no longer starved for decent fighting games.
i believe valle was doing some hosting of yata, or at least he had planned to. I think the game was delayed some and im not sure if it fell in the cracks for his fighting tournament scene. If he still supports it I would think you might see a decent player base.
Eh, I wouldn't hold out for the FGC-related tournaments. It's pretty mass appeal now, where the most popular games get the most screen time. If Yata doesn't have strong support from outside players, Valle will probably drop it and move on. It happens with every "poverty" or "anime" game.
I like the game, and the netcode atm seems very solid. I hope that this game has a lasting community, but I honestly don't see it getting as large of a community on Steam as USF4 or Skullgirls, at least not in this game's current state.

Alot of people said that about skullgirls before it was out, it really comes down to 1 us filling the needs of the players and then 2 the players themselves sharing the game with their friends.
Stream the game! Bring it to local gatherings! Spread the word! It would be a real shame if a game as good as this falls into obscurity before it's time.

Indeed, it's easy for people to say "I hope it does well". But if they're not interested in showing support at locals and tournaments, then interest will die as quickly as it did for Skullgirls regardless of how good the core game is.
