Is there an FPS cap?
Because when I turn off v-sync then the FPS only goes up to 62.

Given the not overly complex graphics of this game, at a resolution of 1440p, and a GTX 970, there certainly should be a bit more than just 62 FPS!?

Right now it’s not a problem since my monitor can only show up to 60 FPS. However, I do consider to buy a 144hz G-Sync monitor in the future. And I would hate to get stuck with 62 FPS instead of having maybe an 80 or even a 100 frames per second.

Maybe that works?

I found the problem. It’s Unreal’s frame rate smoothing that does an FPS lock to 62. It’s set by default when a project is created. So if you haven’t turned it off, then it’s active now.

I’m not asking that you turn it off. I was just wondering what kind of FPS lock does 62 instead of 60 FPS. :)

Ah interesting... was not aware. I'll pass that along to the engineers.

I'd really appreciate an unlock on the FPS too. I just upgraded to a 165hz monitor and this is my new favorite game. I'd LOVE to see this baby playing at 165fps. Great job on the game, devs!

Having bought the game a couple of days ago I have noticed this as well, be great to unlock the frame rate as I think it is giving me an artifical stutter as I move around. I only say that as I have seen it on other games that have a FPS lock and when removed it has disappeared. (E.g Unreal Tournament 3 and XCOM Enemy Unknown).

Hope it is something you can remove, would be appreciated.

Thanks for making a lovely game, looking forward to the final release.

Just an FYI, I'm running a G-sync monitor and noticed that stutter is *completely* eliminated with G-sync turned on. I imagine Freesync would do the same. So, if you're in the market for a new display in the near future, I would look into one of these features (Freesync for AMD GPUs or G-sync for Nvidia GPUs). The difference is astonishing.

Yeah I would imagine that would be the case, I'd love a G-SYNC the technology really appeals to me. However I am not in the market for a new monitor currently, as I picked up a 144hz one only a year ago exactly so that I could play games without V-SYNC and the FPS caps that provides but still have no tearing (or reduced at least) and it has worked out great.

However as you say G-SYNC is the next step and I'll certainly be picking one up one day, but not any time soon. :)

Stop being a spoiled brat; the animations would probably look wack in whatever FPS youre shooting for. 60 is MORE than enough.

Also, stop spamming threads. You suck.

You're an extremely unpleasant person. Commenting on two threads once is not spam. I hope your life gets happier one day man <3

Bizarre response.

To add, even if you only have a refresh rate of 60 Hz, a frame rate of more than 60 will still be smoother as it reduces the time between frames.

Try to turn off smoothing by searching for "bSmoothFrameRate=true" inside engine/config/baseEngine.ini

I haven't tried it with this game. But it worked an another game once.
