Yeah, this game is more of a roguelite than a roguelike, or rather roguelike-like. If I remember correctly, then the original game called Rogue, also deleted the entire savegame altogether. So didn’t support progression at all.
FTL: Faster Than Light, is called a Roguelike-like. Apparently because there is no progression carry over, just like in the original Rogue. But also FTL isn’t completely turned-based and not even tiled based at all. And that’s the reason for the second “like”.
I wonder why they call Ziggurat a roguelite. Because I don’t think that character unlocks count as progression, since they’re not really helpful in Ziggurat.

The thing with Aesop’s bag was, that I just thought that they are the girl’s random startup items. It didn’t occur to me that they are the dog’s carried over items, but moved over the girl’s bag.
