I also enjoy the game, but I do agree that the Dungeoneers are a bit too much cannonfodder for my taste. When I got to name one, I thought me and the Dungeoneer would share some moment together, but I honestly can't remember if we did. There's been so many of them, and they're not in any way sticking out as survivors when they managed the awesome feat of clearing a dungeon.

I take it that the reset to Level 1 and the fact we sell all our loot is a design choice, so I am not asking for anything like that. What I would like, though, is some kind of visual way to see who survived and who did not. A different colored outfit? Maybe a different set of dialogue (scared and insecure in the beginning, but more and more confident for every dungeon survived?).

The name is a way to tell them apart I guess, but honestly, with all them Dungeoneers dying left and right, I quickly stopped with trying to come up with a new name and now have one name for each class. As soon as one dies, I rename the next one the same. Never done this in a game before, which say a lot about how little I care about my Dungeoneers.

Which is sad, since I want to care.

I agree with you.I was thinking that since dungonneers to tend die frequently (for me anyway :p ), it would be nice to have tombstones more ellaborate for dungeonneers whofought several dungeons before dying (something like veterans tombstones ).

Well i know that a lot more stuff is going on with people asking for more features. It was just a cosmetic & immersive thought.

Well good luck guys !

I agree with that review, and it's the only thing that keeps me from buying the game.

It's like if in binding of isaak you would have to start over every time you enter a new floor. I don't like it one bit.

The problem becomes even greater after a while when the lvl 1 monsters beef up so much a lvl 1 character struggles against them and dies nine times out of ten in the very first combat.

that sounds awful :/

Starting from level 1 is a staple of the roguelike genre they have borrowed for this game. Some people love it and some people hate it. You can mitigate this somewhat by going in with a tier 2 or 3 dungeoneer, as well as unlocking better equipment for them to loot from defeated monsters.

And they did mention adding battle scars so you can see which dingeoneers have lived through a few battles. Of course, they are still fodder and even the scarred ones will die eventually.

I know! I love roguelikes. The difference with this game and most roguelikes I've played though, is that in this one you lose almost everything either you lose or win.

Think of the Guild as your character - not the Dungeoneers :)

Heh. I'd love to, but in my mind that does not work.

I want to have a character to relate to, and kick myself in the face for when he dies ;) I realize that you've got the whole progression bit down with the guild portion of the game, but in my opinion!! <----, that is not enough. You need a character that you've named and taken through all the perils, watching him/her grow stronger, to just watch him/her die at a foolish mistake from your part, to make a working roguelike "most" people will enjoy!

But that's just in my, very!, unprofessional opinion the way to do it. I love the asthetics and the idea of the game! Send my regards to the voice actor and the artist :D
But a roguelike that I <-------- !!!!!! Will enjoy, it is not.. cause of this simple thing.
:D

Well, i dont see it happening since it would mean to change all the mechanics of the game which isnt design for that...
SnuskSocka Jul 15, 2015 @ 10:21am
I know Searro. All I'm doing is giving MY views on how a roguelike will cater to MY "demands". There will be people disagreeing and there will be people agreeing.
In the end it's up to the developers.
Since I love the astethics and feel of the game I, of course, in my mostly normal, egocentric human mind, hope that they'll change it so much that it'll cater to me and that I will consider a buy =D
*EDIT*
Oh, and maybe I'll get all my demands in a second one! Wouldn't that be sweet? :D

Well Santa my first Chump managed to beat the first level. Then BlackWidow the Apprentice destroyed content until unlocking Mark the Alchemist who then proceeded to wipe everything else out in the second part of the game in which case finally Moiraine the Mathemagician finished part 2 and is going strong in part 3.

My guild is rather small and even smaller due to having no graveyard yet ;)
