Portal Stories: Mel doesn't work for me...

Hey guys, I need some help with the game. I've looked everywhere I can and can't find a solution. When I start the game, it doesn't have video. It has sound, as I can hear it in the background, but no video. My monitor even acts like it isn't getting signal at all and shuts off. I get video signal back if I Alt+Tab out of the game. I can run Portal 2 and some of its other mods just fine, I don't understand what the deal is with this one.

I have checked my video card drivers, they are all up to date.

Try to validate your game cache, and launch the game with the -windowed parameter.
Rightclick on Mel in your library, select properties and add -windowed to the launch parameters!

Wow, a response from the developer, you don't see that often, cool. Thank you so much for that little tip. I was able to get the game running with windowed mode, then changed to my proper resolution in the options. Seems to play perfectly now. Thanks again.
