Orange Gel unnecessary in Chapter 3 1/14 part 2

After solving this puzzle - the one with the orange gel dispenser on one side of the elevated emancipation field and a blue excursion funnel and cube dispenser on the other side of it - I realised I hadn't actually used the orange gel for anything. It seemed a little cheap that it would have been included just as a red herring to try to confuse me, so I looked it up on this forum, and then on the official walkthrough video, and 'correct' solution does in fact use the gel - which isn't necessary.

Don't know if the developers already know about this one, or if they would be interested in fixing it, but you can solve the puzzle by sending the cube just a short distance ahead of you before entering the excursion funnel on your way into to the first red button, so that when the emancipation field collapses you are opposite the last section of portal-capable wall - you put a portal on it so the excursion funnel is redirected back into its original stream, but the instant you fire the portal-gun you turn back to the button and grab the cube before it falls to the ground. You can then take it with you to other side, let go as you fire the next portal to redirect the funnel onto the second red button and then immediately grab it again before it falls, then just walk out of the funnel and leave the cube to do its work. No gel used.

Every puzzle has the "real" way to complete it, but I know that a lot of the puzzles can be solved in unintended ways, so I am guessing that you just solved the puzzle a different way than the devs planned.

Yeah, it's a known thing. But because we want all the puzzles to be able to be solved with logic, rather than fast reflexes, we decided to keep the orange gel in. A lot of people have been struggeling through that map, even with the gel already!

It's good to have different ways to solve a puzzle. I solved it "official wy", but another one with my own logic (my friend solved same test another way)

You know, one of my favorite solutions I saw was a guy that used momentum on the first virgil chamber (ok he used glitched portal momentum on the first part but, dude, it was glorious.)
