Keeps Crashing On Start - up

Hey everyone, i just wanted to ask if anyone else has had the game crash on start up. Here is what happens, i load the game, it gets to prisim studios, source engine, portal stories : mel, and then after that it crashes and doesn't even show me the main menu, i have reinstalled the game and the problem has not gone away ;( any help?

From the FAQ and the bug thread, this seems to work for a lot of people.
If your game is not starting/blacking out on starting; try this:

Got the same problem, the change of the game resolution didn't help either.

My game is working today, i did the thing you said, alot earlyer in the day and it didn't work before, but now my game is just working. Cool.

Same for me, didn't change anything since yesterday but it works today.

Well I just got the game and it won't work for me. It just closes intsantly to the desktop after a couple of the initial credits screens.

I put in -w 2560 -h 1440

No dice.

for me what happens is that it doesn't even show any of the credit scenes and just closes after not even half a second...
