It's a mod that Valve had no involvement in, so no. Unless you want to think about it as one of the many alternate universes Cave Johnson talks about.

But considering it's free I don't see the issue, and it is a lot of fun.

I like to consider it canon... since It takes place after Portal 1 and ends before Portal 2 plus some stuff fills some plot holes in the main game...

Is basically a game made by Real fans for the fans

No it's not....
But I don't think that just because not Valve made it, and it's not official it could never become canon!
If it doesn't conflict with the allready told lore, and it gets the tone right, and the creators don't have any plans that would contradict the mod's story there could be a potentiial for that story to become official canon

I mean think about it... all it would take is Valve making an official statement that from now they concider it canon.
It's not likely to happen and I don't think they would ever do that but It would be really cool from them to do so tough...

since there will never be a portal 3 or a prequel i like to think of this as a prequel, when aperture science innovators was started but how it got destroyed and ruined - and Mel being one of the volunteers

No. "Another word for official. Used quite often in fan fiction to differentiate between the official storyline in which the fan fiction is based on."

you are a fnaf fan so fnaf 4/5/6 are canon as the choices are part of the story and so are the games, but fnac (candy's) isnt canon as its just a fan made spin off that isnt official or confirmed by scott
