So here we are. After 7 long years this story finally reached it's end. Was it good? Did it meet the expectations? Well, let's check it out step by step. First of all, the moment you start playing, you recognize that it is indeed that game. That atmosphere, that gameplay, those visuals, those ambients. Everything is at it's place and on high level as before.

Special word about local puzzles. And there is a lot of them. Really a lot. And of various difficlulty. From very easy to something really tricky, especially if you aplaying on expert. Looking specifically at you, school door lock . And easy or not, but there many puzzles that I've never seen before in any such game. Also just as the 2nd game, this one does not contain hidden object scenes, so it's more a point & click and puzzle game.

Now we are heading to the pressing issue of this game. Of course I'm talking about the story. It was one of the key pillars of this serie after all. And it's ending spawned many debates. Was it good or bad thing to end the story in such way? Not an easy question to be honest. I realise where this dissatisfaction is coming from. Such type of endings is usually not very popular. And there is a good reason for this. But at the same time, there are few great games, that have exactly such endings. I guess you know them as well.

I tried to recap all the events of 3 games, and for me personally, this ending does have sense. I mean, at certain point the story became so complicated and convoluted, that probably such ending was one of (if not the only) very few possible outcomes. I consider all that critique towards the story. I try to sort out all possible solitions, but honestly can't come to any other adequate ending.

I mean, you wanted to kill a god with magic staff? A ghost? Few cultists? Or a mad doc? How? with runes mini game? Or knots puzzle? We have already seen this stuff from the conveyor belt in dozens of other games of such genre. So nah, I don't think that would be better solution.

Now, of course, few words about cons. Few lessons from previous mistakes were learnt, but unfortunately not all. We finally got rid of our 'favourite' Hooked? achievement, but dumb approach towards achievs in general didn't vanish. We still have to finish everything in one profile. And you can't replay anything on the same profile. So if you missed something, you have to throw existing profile to the trash been and create new one. I missed one doll and one letter, and now I have to redo EVERYTHING from scratch. Well, at least this time achievs are not bugged. I guess.

Something else? Yeah, the ending. Not the ending on it's own, but more like the final cutscene. It could be bigger. Much bigger. And... richer I guess? After all, so many years passed, we deserved it. This one is too short and not very satisfying. They could show us more.

And the last one. Letters. A lot of letters. Too much letters. Ridiculously much letters to read. You can't make a step without finding some letter. Some locations have 2-3 letters. At certain point this mountain of waste paper becames really annoying. I realise that probably they had bigger plans for the game, but not enough time to implement everything properly, so they had to use this cheap solution. But eventually, I guess, at least it is good thing that they did finished this story, instead of leaving us on another cliffhanger for the 4th game, right?

An unbelievable, beautiful, dark and eerie game, revealing a complex world and a psychological nightmare. I absolutely loved it and hope Dimmie and his team create more games like this. Those of us who have waited years for it are not disappointed.
I do wish there was a way to go back for the figurines I missed though. My only complaint.

Did I see the story take a turn in that direction? No. But I'm really happy with where it took me! Otherwise the waiting for part 3 would have been too long. I'm really happy that Dimmie kept on with the intended ending he wanted for the game. Thank you for keeping the story real!

The game gives you the perfect creepy scary vibe but still allows you to keep a cool head so you can actually solve some of those puzzles.
