Grim Fandango 16:9 screenshots
How come these screenshots are in the 16:9 format if the game only supports a 4:3 aspect ratio?

Or are they in fact vert-?

it's not real 16:9, the game gives you the option to use it but its just stretching and zooming the image (It sucks)

Wow, Manny got fat! :P

You can change the aspect ratio in the options but as you can see from those screenshots it streches the game and makes it look crap.

Nothing originally made in 4:3 should ever be stretched to 16:9. Matt Groening goes on a great rant about this in one of the Simpsons commentaries.

The option is there, but ignore it.

Too bad they didn't remaster the art / locations for 16:9.

That would take an immense amount of work, I think most of the art, landscapes, cityscapes, etc in the game was drawn by hand. I'm seeing a border around all these Steam screenshots so it looks like it sticks to 4:3.

You know what other games had all of the art drawn by hand? Monkey Island 1&2.

Granted, the gameplay area was closer to 16:9 in those, with the Verbs taking up the bottom of the screen, so it wasn't as much a change to make the Special Editions into 16:9, but they still had to redraw everything.

Yeah, I was interested in getting an updated remastered game, but if it's still just 4:3 I'll stick to my original boxed copy.

Just play it in 4:3 with borders. Whats the problem? Major entitlement issues with graphics ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

If I want a 4:3 game I can play the original. Don't need a new version for t hat.

The main draw for me was controls that weren't a complete pain in the ass. The rest is just gravy.
Zurv Jan 27, 2015 @ 10:13am
yes.. controllers are better.. but where is the rest of the gravy?
it is mostly just low rez version of the original with better control.

The scenes in the game is framed for 4:3, it wouldn't make much sense to change it. Besides, it looks fine anyway.

How... How can it be a low res version of the original? I am quite sure the res is higher this time around...

Many people don't have that luxury, as their PC isn't from 10 years ago. ;)

Zurv, what do you mean "low rez"? The resolution is clearly higher.
