After setting of the pass-through metal detector, Carla searches Manny but sits down at her desk when done instead of going to the back room. Is this a bug?

No, it is not a bug. You just have to drink golden liqueur, before you going to pass metal detector gate. This bottle can be found in bar of Manny's casino.

Make sure you've emptied her dialogue before setting off the metal detector.

Also, you have to go through the gate BEFORE manny burps, or else it won't work.

I can confirm drinking the liqueur is important and do it just before going through the detector otherwise Manuel blurps and you need to do it all over again.

Does anyone get stuck in that back room when you go near the window? I can never get off that screen or find anyway back

I know it's 2021 by now - and this is an old thread.
But I hang here all the time in this room ,like my previous poster .mrrogers.
This is after the conversation with the crying Carla.
She threw the metal detector out the window, I looked out(Manni) and I can't get out of the room anywhere.
Not an arrow in sight - can someone help me? Please.

i would try to make a new save (do not overwrite) and restart game to see if that fixes it, otherwise may need to go to an old save. just do not move around the back room at all. only make choices for dialogue and then leave after she throws metal detector.

I will try it - but I'm afraid that I had already overwritten it back then - in July. I do not know it more. You can only try it out. I love this game, the wordplay, the music, the characters...

An old thread , I know . But I'd like to give some positive feedback on my request last year and the nice attempt by ' a typographer' to help me.

So far I had successfully played the game with keyboard and mouse. But I couldn't get out of the room and always stayed with Manni in front of the window. Today I played for the first time with a controller (Xbox) and therefore chose Grim Fandango.
What can I say? It finally worked, I don't know exactly how, but it was mine, I just pressed forward and run at the same time.
I am now successfully back in the corridor and happy that it can continue. :)

This is still a bug that exists. I had to restart a save. Luckily Autosave got my back. But yes, it is still present, 9 years later in 2024. Sigh.
