Anyone else have a love/hate relationship with puzzle games that have a great story like this one?
I do. On one hand, they do provide great and sometimes even extraordinary entertainment. But then I get stuck on a puzzle. And if there's one thing I hate doing, it's looking up the solution to puzzles without figuring it out on my own. With a regular puzzle game, I can usually stick it out; but with Grim Fandango and other puzzle games (especially point and clickers), the story is usually so good that I'm dying for it to continue, so when I end up bringing it to a halt myself, it's much easier for me to crack. And afterwards, I can feel the inury to my pride.
Anyone else?

It is a matter of learning to interprete the game designer's ill mind.

I know the feeling, but this downside will fall over time.
You just have to play point and click adventures for a couple of decade and you'll be solving puzzles like a charm.

I still have to understand if this skill is a good or bad thing.

I've always had a weird relationship with adventure games, on one hand I usually enjoy the weird stories and characters, but on the other there are quite a few of these games where the puzzles make no logical sense and become a random item mating simulator which I feel takes away from them, some are smarter about it, I think Grim here is one of the better examples at least thats what I remember anyway
