This would basically be a download without any kind of forced client.
To make it clear, if Moss' explanation wasn't enough, GOG is like Steam, UPlay, GFWL, Origin, with the only (and big) difference that ALL games sold there are, and will always be, DRM-free. You'll be given an installer for the game you purchase, that you can download whenever you wish, save it and burn it on disc or do whatever you want with it (except of course share it with someone else), and it will allow you to reinstall your game anytime, anywhere, for a limitless amount of times.
The game will be yours forever, and they will never be able to remove your ownership of that game.
