In which case I'd say, no. I'm not paying 5 dollars for this.
I have a suspicion you are correct.

Besides a 20 hour tutorial, annoying characters, story given to you in the form of a datalog as opposed to using the visual medium it was made in, being railroaded down a giant corridor, nothing!
Oh did I mention the story? Abysmal. Then they used that train wreck and made not one, but two sequels to it. At least they're making ff15 now. Set in the same world.
The game promotes itself by saying that it was made by kids. I think thats a weak argument because you shouldnt judge a game by whom made it. To me it appears as the kids "fact" is just there to exploit our feelings so we buy a crappy game that is not worth the money.
Now put on your clown costume and say that again.
I'd like to live in a world where that statement was true. Unfortunately, in mine it's pretty much the opposite. It takes all the little annoyances that final fantasy has been developing over its existence and crammed it into one package and cranked it up to 11.
I don't see anything at all wrong with selling a product you make. So you would put time in to a project and release that project for free - most people wouldn't. I certainly wouldn't.
The thing i don't understand in these steam discussions is that people are always trying so hard to prevent people from buying a game THEY might like.
Instead of going to a steam forum of a game which they actually like they are going to the ones they don't like and try to convince others to dislike it too.
Why do you care so much about what other people might buy, who cares that it's $5, some people like to spend money on this instead of one of the 1000 "Pew-Pew-Bang-Bang" games out there.
Funny. :)
