Whats the point of weapons?
Do i get to fight rivaling gangs or something or will people try to steal my stuff and i have to fend them off? I havent gotten that far yet, I just unlocked the Docks

You could fight the police.

Sometimes customers attack you.

currently there is no rival gangs or police raids no matter what the trailer will imply. The only threats are cops and customers, and this is only if you attack cops/avoid body search/arrest or hit customers/offer too high of a price. Weapons are kinda useless atm.

I like to carry a baseball bat to keep everyone honest.
Also, with a baseball bat you can beat the crap out of the ATM's for free $.
Or try beating other machines and see the result.

A weapon is useful for failed deals where the person attacks you.

Sometimes, when an NPC comes running up to you asking to buy, if the deal fails because you tried to charge a really high price, they sometimes attack.
Cranky (the pot wearing guy) is bad about this.
