Does Steam version launch the Game or the launcher?
So Infinity Nikki just got released on Steam but I already play from the original launcher. My question would be, does the Steam version download the game but then just start the launcher like other mobile ports do? I dont wanna download the game again, since I am low on storage and then just see the launcher pop up when I press play. Does anyone know yet?

I see, thank you so much! So I will just keep playing on their own launcher.
Technically you can start downloading in Steam, then pause and then move folders from I.Nikki installation to Steam installation - at least it works for other games. I don't know if it works here, until Maintenence is ended.

Do not forget to save and copy your screenshots!

I could do that, yes but when it just launches the launcher when I click play, its useless in my opinion, at least for PC players who already play since release, like I do. I know its just one extra click, but I dont see the use behind that, tbh.

WuWa isnt even out on steam yet or am I blind? But yeah, I saw that, still like I think Strinova was it called (shooter with anime characters), it doenloads the game via Steam but then just launches the launcher, when I press play on steam. A small but extra and useless step in my opinion, when I you play already.

for what it's worth, the entire download was through steam, not through the launcher. I assume updates will be downloaded through steam as well like any other game
the launcher just had a play button that immediately opened the game, it didn't download anything itself. I would much prefer no launcher at all and the game just opening immediately, but this is fine for now.

Well, you can share screenshots and stuff.

But yeah, there no real reason to move.

Yeah, I already assumed that the version on Steam is relying on the steam servers only, which is nice, since you can manage your downloads better, but the extra step when it opens the launcher is not neccesary in my opinion. Maybe there will be an option to skip the launcher like with The Witcher 3, there is a command, letting you skip the Red Engine launcher, but it does not work on every game

It is out today as well, in 1 hour or so. With anniversary patch :clealol:

Agreed, something like cdpr's launcher skip command would solve my issue, I hope either infold provides it or someone from the community figures it out!

Funny enough it skips launcher on Steam Deck. They CHOSE to use launcher on PC for some weird reason.
If it skips launcher on Steam Deck it means it can skip launcher on PC too.

Had a look, and according to https://steamdb.info/app/3164330/config/ the command it uses on steam deck is
-SkipLauncherTokenCheck_SD
considering it says "token check", and the fact that it launches the executable itself and not the launcher, I have a feeling this isn't going to be easy to use on a normal PC
