devs trying their hardest to block linux users
they go the extra effort to block linux on desktop and put anti VM so you cannot spoof steam deck and make it work. i dont understand why they are putting 10x more effort into blocking linux on desktop instead of going the easiest way which is ticking a box to enable linux desktop. quite bizzare.

I'm not sure you are correct. All games that use Anti-Cheat Expert do not work under Linux on PC. All reported on "Are we anti-cheat yet" web site. Only one reportedly works, but Easy Anti-Cheat is mentioned as anti-cheat for that game, so the developer may have switched from ACE to EAC.

Maybe ACE doesn't have such check box. Maybe the company that produces it doesn't want to deal with 1000 different Linux distributions. I don't know, neither do you. I myself don't blame the devs. But their bosses. They decided to go with ACE and not something else that might work. Why? Maybe money, maybe China doesn't trust anti-cheat solutions from abroad. Maybe something else.

the steam deck version works and they make it work because they see it as "just" a console which is not. its running linux a open source kernel. just a lazy bunch (not so when it comes to blocking linux players, they put the most effort there) and no you dont need to deal with 1000 distros thats not how it works

What did I say about 1000 Linux distros? Install one of them on Steamdeck and it will not run. They are supporting just one Linux version. Perhaps Steam paid them to do so. As I said the developers of ACE do not have incentive to do so for any other Linux distro. Maybe you'll give them some cash to make your favorite Linux distro work.

thats not how it works though... what are you talking about?.... it works on the deck because it checks if it is a steam deck not the distro version... and if it sees a desktop version of linux it gets blocked. i know that im talking to a window baby but come on man... you dont individually need to unlock linux distros to make a game playable literally not how it works idk why you keep saying the same wrong thing.

Install any other distro on Steamdeck and try it. Did you do that in those 24 minutes that you took to respond? Highly unlikely.

theres no need to when other people already tested. you could have looked it up in those 24 minutes you took to respond. it took me less than 1 min of google search. instead of yapping too much, go talk to google for once.

https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/1h75ev6/steamdeck1_in_the_flatpak_version_of_steam/

the anti cheat checks the hardware(CPU) and if its not a steam deck it gets blocked.

"it's checking the cpu identifier which is impossible to spoof. This also means the check is kind of stupid as a different OS will still work, making it more of a placebo against cheating on linux."

Nobody there tried to install other distro on Steamdeck. They did use Arch on a PC. They did not use Arch on Steamdeck. Search "Arch Linux PC" in this page you told me to look at.
There's this operating system called Windows, I can't believe you haven't heard of it, but you should try that.
Windows, yes. I used to be on Windows about 3 years ago. Until it got updated with a check if my PC is compatible with Windows 11. Then it found out it was not. And miraculously my computer started to be slow due to constant 100% disk usage. Coincidence, I think.

Then I did a clean reinstall, deleting everything in the process. I did that offline. My Windows 10 was working fine, even after (again offline) I installed all required drivers. No 100% disk usage, Fast as it was before that.

Then I plugged it into the network, it connected to MS servers to get its digital license. And the next boot it was slow as hell again with 100% disk usage. Another OBVIOUS coincidence.

Then the local support suggested that I should get a faster disk, SSD instead of HDD. Great solving skills. I got SSD, then again offline I installed Windows on the SSD. Now Windows doesn't even boot at all. Another coincidence, I know.

So my local support suggested I should buy a new computer with Windows 11. Do these guys know any solution that does not include the word "buy"?

I just installed Linux. It was perfectly able to boot from the SSD and the HDD, I have two different distros on them. The one on the HDD works just like Windows used to work on HDD before it miraculously started running slow. The one on the SDD is very fast, I don't regret buying the SSD at all.

I don't regret installing Linux as well. There are some problems, but there were problems on Windows as well. And those were 2x more than my Linux problems. Also there is no need for support for Linux. There is enough information online, so I can fix my issues by myself.

someone on github iirc tried to run it on steamdeck with bazzite and it didn't work so i imagine arch won't either. i'm not sure what the argument here is or why do you feel the need to be mean about people wanting this game to work on other configurations,,
Nobody here is mean, except maybe the person talking about Windows in a Linux discussion. Everyone wants that the game can run on any Linux distribution. However I think, and I've pointed out the facts that lead me to that conclusion, this is not going to happen. Pointing out facts is not mean.

Those facts are indeed frustrating even to me, but I can't change reality, so people should be prepared to not get the game working on Linux.

Some of them may want to buy Steamdeck, some of them may decide to buy Windows just to play the game. Or perhaps other device capable of running the game.

I myself already know I will not play the game, unless a miracle happens and the game is published to be compatible with Linux. That's all.

It actually probably required no effort at all. They purchased ACE, and it came with Steam Deck whitelisted and non-steam deck hardware blocked. I actually reported it to their bug reporting team, and they didn't even know Linux was blocked. There was no thought put into this.

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

I don't know what you're talking about. The website client works great on SD through Proton. 40-45 fps on Medium.
