The AVX2 ban
I got the message when I launch the game, that it cannot be launched because my processor don't support AVX2. Is there a way to still play it. I mean, my processor is ole'reliable. I'm sure it has the computing power for medium 1080p. It has AVX of that Im sure.

AVX2 was released in 2013. How old is your processor??

It's i7-2600k. I still play the newest games without problem, so AVX2 seems like a ban. Like - You're processor is absolutely capable of running the game, but we have to make you to buy a new one somehow.

if you have such an old processor, what kind of GPU do you have?
this game is completely GPU dependant. if i do the Benchmark Tool in it, my cpu is using 2%, GPU is using 99% of its potential (with a 3090).

so it's probably time to upgrade my friend.

and what newest games can you actualy play with this ancient processor? i'm really curious.
1070 8GB, 32 RAM. New ones I've played are like Veilguard, Marvel Rivals, Helldivers II, The First Descendant, Starfield . Can't think of others right now. Wanted to try Space Marine 2, but haven't yet.
Just checked it in Hogwarts Legacy. 1080p on high (+ few ultra settings) running ~40fps

It's a miracle that any modern games still support your outdated hardware, even running at potato resolution. If you enjoy running games at 40fps, god bless you. But you're not getting the full experience as the game designers intended, and no one is going to make a new game backwards compatible for 14 year old hardware. ✌️
avx2 is becoming a requirment in many games,
Forza Horizon 3,4,5
MSFS 2020
Uncharted 4
HellBlade 2
Forza Motorsport 7
Forza Motorsport 8
Horizon Forbidden West
The Last Of Us Part 1
God Of War Ragnarok
Ratchet & Clank:Rift Apart
Alan Wake 2
FC24
Age of Empires IV
GranBlue Fantasy:Relink(has fix for AVX2)
Age of Wonders IV
Dying Light 2
Persona 5 Royal
Helldivers 2
Deathloop
Star Citizen
Spider Man 2
Ghost Of Tsushima
Until Dawn

its really about time when you think about upgrading now. a later intel cpu even if its a lower skew part like 12400f or amd 7600 souldnt be a massive price to upgrade and gain alot of performance in the bargain:)

cant expect your old faithful to last forever sooner or later you need to take it out back and put it out of its missery.....

I guess I'm forced anyway. It,s like teling someone he can't drive his 1960s Mustang on the highway, because his car is old and doesn't have ABS. You should buy the new one old man. xD
Pernishki, THIS! I'm experiencing this problem too. But Shadows is just optimized poorly. No wait, it's not even optimized at all because I also have a new gaming laptop, but Shadows needs a weird amount of VRAM, 5.2GB on the lowest settings... but many graphics chips only 4GB. Not to mention all of the bugs people are reporting on the official website.
Keep fighting the good fight. And shame on the people who just say "Time to upgrade."
If developers don't want people to be able to play their game, then it's about time for them to go bankrupt.
I can't justify buying a whole new CPU just to play a mediocre game like Assassin's Creed 20.

From the requirements on the store page:
MINIMUM:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
Processor: Intel® Core™ i7 8700k

Not sure why you thought a i7-2600k would work - that is 6 generations below the minimum spec required and, as you have now discovered, does not support AVX2

I hung on to my i7 3770 until only a couple of months back. Modders were releasing enough AVX2 removal patches for games that I was getting by but the performance, especially in UE5 games was so bad. It is time to upgrade your old rig I'm afraid.

I have the same problem. I have a FX8350 (2012 appearantly) that's keeping me from loading the game. All my other specs exceed the minimum requirements; 32GB RAM, SSD, GTX 1080 (12GB VRAM), etc...

I have even run Mirage and Valhalla without issue so it feels a little unfair that this crops up now.

Edit: I ran benchmark tests to see of my rig meets requirements and they all said it passes. They also failed to mention a AVX2 cpu was a requirement.

So my hope is to wait for a AVX2 removal patch then. *crosses fingers*
I think they had AVX requierment for Odyssey, that was removed with a patch?!?!

Mirage, valhalla was running well, this one is banned...ridiculous (same 2600k).
