No Dualsense support?
It seems surreal that in 2025 there is still no compatibility for the PlayStation 5 controller and only for the PlayStation 4 ones, according to the Steam store.

Hello there! Assassin's Creed Shadows supports both DualSense
and DualSense Edge Controllers. You can find a full list of supported peripherals here [ubi.li]
If you are having issues with the PlayStation controller, please try following the advice provided by Dozio (thank you for the assist!)

check your steam input (i turned it off and it worked)
