I'm sorry to hear that you PC crashes when you connect your Xbox controller to it while playing Assassin's Creed Shadows.
I cannot see you mentioning if this is via a USB cable or wireless.
If via a USB cable, did you try different USB ports? Do you have any other USB accessories connected to your PC?
Are you connecting via a USB hub?
Disconnected any other USB devices and hubs for a test.
If this is not a USB cable connection, try for a test changing your screen's refresh rate from 240Hz to 120Hz and see if this helps with the crashing.
