Tanto bug (stuck in combat and can't change gear or switch weapon)

I sent a bug report into Ubisoft, but I'm reporting it here with work around until they fix it

Using a tanto is bugged. Once you equip it, and start using it in combat, at some point, it will randomly bug out and stay ready which sticks you in combat non stop. Fast traveling, save load, and restarting the game will not fix it. I have found only one thing that does.

1. Get on your mount, and then you should be able to change gear, but if you get off, the bug comes right back
2. While mounted, strip off the tanto.
3. Get off the mount
4. If you are still bugged, repeat the process, and strip off everything, but removing the tanto should fix it.

If the bug comes back, repeat the process. Getting on the mount makes sense because it's forcefully doing a weapon sheath.

Until they fix this, do not use a Tanto. I've been able to reproduce this 100% of the time. I have now tested this with four different ones both premium and non-premium

I've the same problem on UPlay too. Once I narrowed it down to tanto's, I stopped using them.

I'm hoping they fix this soon, but then, I'm still hoping they fix the widescreen issues with black flag ...

+1 with this issue. Thanks for the workaround. I also found that I could remove it after synchronizing.

I haven't had this issue but someone I was talking to early today was having the same problem and he just saved and reloaded his game for it to fix it for him.

I've been using a tanto since 8 hours in, and I've never encountered any bug of stuck combat solely from my tanto. I wonder what else is triggering it.

The bug is somehow tied to the Melee Attack Mode.

In Combo or Combo+Posture, the Tanto reliably bugs out every time. In Default, it works just fine. I think this is why some people aren't experiencing the bug.

So far, the bug is looking like it's fixed with the patch. 10 mins playing with tanto/katana with no issues.

Not for me. It still happens with 1.0.1 whenever Combo or Combro+Posture is enabled.

Thanks for the work around. This truly is a massive issue as I rely heavily on the Tanto to do dual assassinations... 😔

Ooops, my bad. I still have the issue even with the Tanto deselected... 😭😡

Im also having this problem, I cant use my tools or swap weapons, also I often cant change armours etc, its distressing and affecting my enjoyment greatly.

So I disable my combo posture and suddenly I can swap weapons and use my tools again. Thanks so much for the information shadowssc133. :D
