Loading delays and glitches
Hey all, I expected to see more discussion on this. Twice now, after maybe 5 hours after two clean installs, the game starts glitching out pretty hard, specifically the HUD will stop loading in, models are unloaded/deformed, talking to NPCs is severely delayed (minutes can pass after activating, running around HUDless), pulling up the map/interface becomes severely delayed, load-ins become very slow, and traveling between small regions causes a pause where camera is fully controllable but the models are all frozen. I'm playing on an RTX 5090 and generally top tier hardware, adjusting settings does nothing, clean install did nothing, drivers are up to date, only this game impacted. Anyone else having this experience or has heard of a solution?

Just for clarity, I am using a 4070 TI Super, and my Scatter Density has always been set to High, and it still happens.

Im going to try to set it to Medium and see if it works.
Yeah I'm playing though Ubi+ and this started about 50-55hours into the game for me. Thought it might of been due to some of the things on my end(shader toggler, reshade,ce for fov) but I verified the files and its not doing the lag to start cut scenes, map or dialogue interactions anymore. Plus performance is better(smoother, maybe placebo lol)

Hello everyone and thank for reporting this issue for Assassin's Creed Shadows.

I am sorry that you're experiencing this problem when playing. In general we recommend to install the game on the same drive used to install Ubisoft Connect, ideally on an SSD or NVMe drive in order to meet the game's minimum requirements available here[www.ubisoft.com]

If your system meets or exceeds the min requirements, could you please let me know if the following workaround works for you as well?

Also, when the problem starts to occur, could you please check the video settings page in the game options menu to verify if the VRAM is full?

Thank you.

Iam running the game on an nvme ssd still having this issue
could it be my gpu tho? no i dont think so cuz im running an 4090 with 24gb vram
its a game issue that limits the read & write spead to only a specific amount e.g. 5mb/s

Fix it pls

Update using this solution:

Im using a 4070 TI Super, and have set Scatter Density to Medium. Played the game for an hour, still having sudden character freezing while textures loads, HUD disappearing, and ultra long loading time.

Really in the verge of uninstalling this game.

Having this same issue. The game will run maxed out RT on pristine for about 30min-1hr. Then it’ll stutter, the menu will take forever to load and the textures mess up, also the HUD disappears. :er_sad:
There are multiple threads about this same topic and yet it seems to be silence on the matter from Ubisoft. Has anyone seen or heard them even confirm that they are aware/working on this issue?
They have commented in the threads one time each but haven't followed up, and I don't see it on the list of known issues.

im sure it would, if it was a universal issue. I don't have anything remotely close to this for how ever many hours i play the game.

They gave a very general reply like "I am sorry that you're experiencing this problem when playing.", however have not addressed the actual issue. Not too sure if they have plans to fix this or not.

Yeah no idea what the issue is. The game plays fine for me, however, whenever I exit a menu my frames drop hard. Then about 5 seconds later, my frames go back to normal. Not game breaking for me, but VERY VERY annoying given how many times you need to navigate your inventory, objectives, or the map.

I am running the game locally on an NVME SSD. 4070 Super, 7800X3D, 64GB Ram.

Edit: I tried the Scatter Density trick and that fixed the problem for me for like 15 mins. However, it went back to doing the same thing, even on High.

Hello everyone

Thank you for all your messages and sorry to hear you all experience this issue with delays, HUD disappearing from your game and general performance issues.

I know we already mentioned an SSD drive, and some of you confirmed they use them.

Please also make sure your SSD/NVME is not nearing its full capacity, or has not gone over 80% of its capacity. In vast majority, storage devices will suffer significant performance drop when exceeding 80% of their total capacity causing performance issues in games.

If this is not the case, and you have lost of space on your drives, and yet suffer these performance issues, please generate DxDiag and MsInfo system reports[www.ubisoft.com] and reach out to us via:

I fixed it for myself by turning off GPU acceleration in my PC settings. worked like a charm for me
system -> display -> graphics -> advanced graphics settings -> turn hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling off

Hello DarmanORC, thank you for kindly sharing that turning off GPU acceleration has helped you.

If ever we can help in the future, just let us know
What fixed the problem for me was moving the game to my 2nd nvme drive. Dont know why but on my primary drive Lexar nm790 2tb i was having these weird issues and on my older Lexar nm620 1tb problem is gone completley.

But, isn't hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling needed for DLSS frame-gen? This game needs frame-gen to run properly for most people, so this can only be a temporary solution.
