Thanks for reporting the issue with shadows. Does this issue happen all the time or did it happen only once? Have you tried changing the video settings to see if there are any differences?
I recommend deleting the config file and letting the game automatically set the settings. The path to the file is: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Assassin's Creed Shadows\ACShadows.ini.
Please let us know if the issue persists.
I did rollback drivers from the current 572.83 to 572.70 and am now able to play issue free.
During my troubleshooting I tried:
Altering graphic and resolution settings.
Uninstalling and reinstalling.
Verifying game files.
Reinstalling current driver.
Launching as admin from the .exe
My system is:
Windows 11 64bit
i7-13700hx ~2.1Ghz CPU
32Gb memory
Nvidia RTX4070 GPU
Thank you so much for responding! Other than the headache, once I got it working with driver 572.70, everything seems fine.
Hello,
This is still unresolved. Kindly fix at the earliest, I recieved a review copy and am working on an in depth review. Unfortunately, the bug makes the game completely unplayable :(
Thanks in advance.
also having this issue repeatedly. even after doing the "supposed fix" mentioned above. please resolve asap
Before submitting a bug report[www.ubisoft.com] I would recommend in this instance completing the steps in our dedicated PC troubleshooting guide [ubi.li] to ensure that game files and drivers are all up to date. If after following those steps you find this persists I would recommend opening that bug report[www.ubisoft.com] and including any videos and images you can.
In the meantime, if we can help with anything else from Steam, just let us know, otherwise we can be reached at the following locations also

Hello,
Thank you for looking into this. This seems to be an issue with DX12 cache. So, I was able to recreate the issue successfully multiple times.
1. Launch the game, works fine with HDR
2. Aa soon as I enable Nvidia ShadowPlay capture = Alt+F9, the gameplay starts flickering.
Works fine in the game menu.
3. Exit and play the game does not gives the flickering anymore.
4. However, the shadow gets all choppy, with blocks.
5. Also, HDR stops working with colors getting washed out.
FIX
1. Navigate to Documents > Assassin's Creed Shadows > Cache > DX12 and delete the contents of the folder.
2. This will temporarily fix the issue.
RECREATE THE ISSUE -
1. As soon as Nvidia Capture is initiated, the flickering starts followed by Choppy Shadow.
Card Used - NVIDIA 4060
Sorry to hear it that the game does not work well with Nvidia ShadowPlay capture.
This is potentially something to let the game team know about, however, I cannot promise anything.
Feel free to submit it via the Bug Reporter.[ubi.li]

Oh this is great! Do you have any idea why it happens when I launch the game with the monitor already connected to the laptop? (My current fix is to launch the game disconnected from the monitor, and then once I've verified that everything is ok, I connect the monitor and fortunately the issue doesn't appear)
