Graphical issue with... shadows
Hello,

I have an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU, and I can run the game on very high settings. The game doesn't stutter; it's smooth. However, the shadows are terrible:

I can't figure out what's causing this. I've tried setting it to low, windowed mode, disabling dynamic resolution, lowering it to 30 fps... I can't find the setting that's messing things up, so I'm turning to your expertise. If you've had the same problem or have any ideas, I'm all ears because it's really ruining the experience.

I find the solution. You just have to disable the G-Sync of Nvidia Geforce Experience, system tab.

Hey thanks for this tip! I was having the same issue on an RTX 4060 laptop GPU and it was driving me nuts. https://steamcommunity.com/app/3159330/discussions/1/591766382100621767/?tscn=1742525173

I'm still getting broken animations (like the legs being upside down when running) only on this laptop GPU, not on my desktop, but hey it's playable now. :)

Oof I'm having the exact same running animation issue on a laptop GPU, and can't seem to find any other posts referencing it. Have you had any luck finding a solution? :)
This is helping!
I mean it's hard to say.. the behavior of the game seems to change day by day, even without Video card driver or game patch...

Anyway after 1.0.1 game was unplayable and I mess around with video option until the painful flickering stop.. but everything was way too dark! :(

Anyway disabled GSync in NVIDIA app, restored default game settings and... graphic is fine again! Night time is no longer a shade of black screen! Such a relief, yoohoo! :D

Nope, haven't found a solution, unfortunately the run animations are still broken for me. Sometimes when trying to scale a hill the camera will flip out and fly into the geometry as well. Only happens on my laptop GPU.

I'm playing on a 4080 desktop GPU and not having any problem with gsync enabled. Did you try doing a clean driver install of the latest Nvidia driver?

Actually I was able to fix this entirely (so far) by deleting the AC Shadows folder in Documents and just restarting the game (based on suggestions from another thread). The broken running animation and floating rocks/ground terrain haven't come back.

I'm on a Nvidia 3070 laptop GPU with the latest driver, and it's been running great since!

Editing to add the link to the Reddit post with the solution that worked for me:

Hey brother, please can you let a fellow struggler know when/if you find a fix for this? I promise to do the same for you if I find it first. This happens to me exactly as you showed after like 20+ hours playing :(
I reset all my grahics option after patch 1.0.2 and it seems to be working fine again (like it was in 1.0.0)

Although I still have the screen g-sync disabled in NVIDIA desktop app.

Hello everyone! Sorry for the late response.

If you are experiencing graphics issues, I recommend deleting the config file ACShadows.ini from the folder Documents\Assassin's Creed Shadows\ and letting the game automatically set the settings.
