Of the three Ford games released on Steam, this is the best, and is also the most recent released; having been released six years ago (2008). There are three environments to race through; desert, ice and water. As with the other ford games, there's little to like about this game, with handling little improved and although the graphics are an improvement on the 2004 and 2006 releases (Ford Racing 3 and Ford Street Racing respectively), they are still sub standard to many other racing games released back in 2008 (for example Need for Speed Undercover, which looks amazing and plays brilliantly even today) that said, the recently released Colin McRae Rally was released before any of these ford games and is far superior to all three games and is only a pound more expensive.

My advice, either leave it alone, or, if you are determined to buy it, wait till the sales. with 50% off, it'll be less than a cup of coffee. :)

Fist impressions:

Drives like bumper cars (seriously, you bounce off obstacles), with decent controls which you ought to get the hang of quickly. Graphics are bad, sound effects are bad (it might be a good idea to turn up the music), car physics are a joke (though it does do simple damage), still the game is fun, and apparently it supports 2 player splitscreen operation.

You need to find the PCConfig/Sysconfig application in the "local files" to change the graphics settings; be sure to choose a 3:4 resolution or the image will appear distorted.

Get this dirt cheap for a laugh, and you won't be disappointed.

This game reminds me of the Playstation era. I loved these types of games on my Playstation, not only were they addicting but they were exciting and fun, This game was released 6 years ago so don't expect a triple A title, but a simle arcadey style racing game. Very fun. Great time-waster. And a great racing game.

Seven out of ten because you couldn't really play this game for hours on end without feeling like it's getting repetitive. Because it really is the same thing over and over again, there isn't much tracks, and there isn't much cars, or gamemodes. But a great game and I would recomend it to a friend.

This game is a one of a kind! I'm not a big fan of ford, but I just can't stop playing it! It runs great on almost every computer!

Ford Racing: Off Road is the last game made in the Ford Racing Series (Of right now). But, to be honest, this game shows no improvement but a really big downgrade.

PROS:
1. Variety Of Trucks And SUVS- This game has a lot of todays Ford off road trucks and SUV and even has a few selection of Range Rovers.
2. Tracks- A lot of tracks to choose from, but not at the start.
3.Career Mode- This mode is about doing events and unlocking tracks, vehicles, and game modes.

CONS:
1.Graphics- The graphics compare to the other ford games is awful looking.
2. Barely any settings- Audio settings and thats it
3.AI is faster than you- I find the AI to be easy sometimes, (Ford Escape is the literally the most OP car in the game) But they will bump you constantly and literally make the damage mode impossible to win.

I dont recommend this game, but I do recommend to give it a go. If its on sale for a dollar.

Its a pretty dank cheap anime. git it if u are a hobo. i got it for 49 cents.

Ford Racing Off Road, like the other Ford Racing games, is pretty much fast food in game form: It's cheap, functional, provides a few hours of decent satisfaction (except Street Racing ugh), but it's not exceptional. You get a selection of 18 different Ford (and Land Rover) trucks and SUV's in this one, so that's cool I guess, even though Ford Racing 3 still has WAY more variety. Maybe this game is the reason Land Rover isn't owned by Ford anymore, since this game came out the same year. I'm joking, but it is an interesting coincidence.

There are a couple different environments you end up racing in, like a desert and a snow-capped mountain. Most of the bonus race types from Ford Racing 3 return, along with some new ones, like one that involves collecting hidden artifacts and another where you try and pass as many gates as possible but sometimes turning around to get to them can be faster. The car handling is okay and damage actually means something in this one; basically you'll start to notice your car not hit the same top speed it used to. Cosmetic damage is much harder to notice though; it takes a lot of hits for a couple scratches to show up on your bumper.

Basically what I'm saying is this: Ford Racing Off Road is okay, like Ford Racing 3 before it. Nothing special or fantastic, but good enough if you're looking for a decent albeit generic arcade racer to kill some time. So why the thumbs down? It's simple really.

Unlike Ford Racing 3 (or Street Racing even), the PC version of this game has one critical flaw: No controllers of any kind are supported. NONE.

This was literally my first hour of setting this game up to run properly:

• Step 1. Download the widescreen patch. (Works just fine btw)
  
• Step 2. Run the config EXE hidden in the game files to set resolution and make sure the game reads my Steam Controller for input.
  
• Step 3. Start the game and...the Dpad is...steering the car...and not the analog...like the config lists for default steering.
  
• Step 4. TRIAL AND ERROR for what felt like an eternity, just trying to get my Steam Controller to work in this game. It worked natively just fine in Ford Racing 3, and the config EXE enabled it to work in Ford Street Racing. Here? Nothing.
  
• Step 5. Realize that I never switched the game's configuration off the default...which is the official default keyboard template. Switch it to the default gamepad template and try again. Still nothing.
  
• Step 6. Pull out my DualShock 4, configured through DS4Windows to emulate Xinput (and yes, Hide DS4 Controller was checked) and config EXE seems to read it just fine, so I set my bindings.
  
• Step 7. Go ingame once more and...no buttons do anything. Great, can't even use that as an alternative.
  
• Step 8. Last resort: Use the Steam Controller again, but switch all the bindings to their keyboard equivalents and emulate Analog steering with the arrow keys bound to the Analog stick. Guess what? This worked. It felt a little stiff and awkward, but it was playable.
  
• Step 9. Go here and do nothing but shake my head because even though Ford Racing 3 and Ford Street Racing worked just fine, Ford Racing Off Road does NOT support controllers AT ALL.[pcgamingwiki.com]

I don't care what the reasoning for this silly decision was. The two prior Ford Racing games work just fine with gamepads, let alone most every other racing game ever released post-PS1. The fact that just this one doesn't, compared to the two previous games in the series from the same developer, is reason enough for me not to recommend this version to the average user.

Recommendation: Ford Racing Off Road is an average but cheap and enjoyable (enough) budget racer to the point I can recommend the game, but I can't recommend this version to everybody. To anyone that doesn't own a Steam Controller and isn't a Windows PowerUser™, just buy Ford Racing 3 instead. If you already played that and want more, skip Ford Street Racing and buy this game, but NOT ON PC. Get the PS2 version or something. At least that version supports analog steering and won't occasionally reset your display settings so you have to go back into the config EXE and reset your display resolution.

Seriously, this much trial and error...for a Ford Racing game. If you still get this with all the above in mind, don't say I didn't warn you.

Ford Racing Off Road is a port from the PS2, and not a good one.
First of all, there is no settings. What so ever. Again, its a port from the Ps2 but would still expect the ability to change resolution.

The game does not give any intro of controlls or how the game works.

The graphics are fine for a game made in 2008, and the game mechanic and feel of the driving is relative smooth.

The carrer mode allows for a ton of races and since all seems to take around 2-10min to complete, you schould have hours of entertainment ahead of you, if this is the type of car game you want.

When it comes to cars, its obv only Ford cars (Duh)
The game dont allow custom cars or upgradeable cars, you can only buy cars thats listed with speed, ac and handling with the money you get from winning.

Who would I recomend this game for?
Ford lovers I guess, and people who like older car games. Dont expect action though. One hand controlling makes it really boring after a while.
