Elite spawns on portal just as I am leaving

So, I cleared the whole map only to return to portal and have 2 floating elites spawn on top of me which ended up killing me...

Why is the game so overpriced if it is so unbalanced?

I'd recommend balancing how many enemies spawn at the portal, especially elites when you are running back to portal.
