Deus Vult is potentially problematic

Hiya, the message that says 'Deus Vult' when you gain a perk is a bit controversial. While it literally translates to 'God wills it' and is something the crusaders used to shout, it has recently been adopted by white supremacist groups and is now a racist dog whistle. I don't want to be that guy, but yeah. Thought it might be worth reconsidering given how it is actively being used to rally people to a cause of hate in the modern world.

Sadly that was also the first thing that came to my mind. And I can see your point, but I'm kinda torn between that and not allowing a bunch of dumb racists to taint history (any more than it already is).

Maybe there's some other alternative like "sublimis" or "deus illumino" or something (I don't know Latin conjugations)

Deus vault dates back to even before the crusade. It means "God Wills it."
It was used as a battle cry for the crusade, but it was used even more outside of the context.

They dont need to change it, its fine. If you think its problematic, its not a problem with it, its a problem with how you are thinking, respectfully.

Rather then coming here and saying its a problem, stop and think, why do you think its a problem, in the context of the game, is it a problem? Who told you it was problematic? Why do THEY think its problematic?

Its fine, it should stay in the game, because of one simple reason, Deus Vault, God Wills it.

I didn't even know it's been adopted by some extremist groups. But this is a game about killing demons and hunting witches. I imagine "Deus Vult" could be a phrase used by a demon hunter, so it fits the context.

something we agree on for once. yeah politics need to stop infecting our games. games aren't real. it's so bad, that master is being removed from computer terminology.

anyways at least in the USA, we all are slaves to taxes. we have to be making money and spending it to live. what is a white supremacist anyways? i've never seen any irl. btw catholism is pagan. there's satanism in it. satanism is full of sexism racism ect. there's illuminati and free mason symbolism in the game. for example the early access construction symbol is the one that usually has a g in it. when you get a manifestation, you see the all seeing eye. if you get a corrupted manifestation, you see a bleeding eye. one of the occult families that has you get labeld anti-semeitc for talking about them, says that only men can enter their buisness.

so imo this game is either evil or influenced by it. however Cuphead is far more evil. there is zero influence on that ouji-level creepiness.

Personally I have never heard of these extremist groups. Though instead of giving these groups more power, I suggest we enforce the original meaning instead.
