When to do the first familiar?

Hi Guys,

i been playing some runs lately, and am on the second Island with the first familiar. Right now i ascended like 10-15 times. I get the gameplay loop i think.

Is the first familiar to be done after some more runs or even later? I dont seem to be able to damage him. Havent gotten him lower than 90% and he just 2-hits me ^^.

You've encountered the first real hard wall in the game. The Galley Slave is no joke when you're first starting out, and is definitely an enemy that will take trial and error at different Ascensions to test your abilities.

Victory is possible at low Gnosis and Ascension if you're masterfully adept at the game, but it's A LOT more sweaty than it needs to be. If he's trashing you, it's smarter to ascend and grow in power than to "force skill" your way through. Your time wasted getting trashed will yield you no further rewards than just styling on his face at lvl 200 with Gnosis 6. It's the same rewards and victory either way.

Just remember after you are able to beat him easily, to kick off a Calamity while your fighting him. He will take you to a secret area with a very powerful hidden bead ;)

Thank you for you reply. Are you supposed to do each island multiple times? I also have the feeling different loot/enemies appear each time, is that right?

I am lvl 20 now, and think i will try the familiar again when i am lvl 30

There are always 7 camps that need to be cleared in each level, but where they are and which mix of enemies are in them will vary based on the run.

Real loot, like weapons and Rosary Beads WILL NOT change location. They are static placements. The different chests in the game will change locations and the loot inside them, except the Divine Chest which will always burp out the Latent Orb.

Solid plan. You may find a few new weapons along the way to deal with that fat tub boss.
