The stake and the charge rifle made every gun feel garbage. Minus the demonic ones
After running with the stake launcher and the charge rifle which are awesome and satisfying to use, I tried other weapons to see if they are just as good, and to my utter disappointment majority of them performed like trash, and this is after I got them upgraded to 2nd tier. My recent one was the duelist, its gimmick gun at best, and a complete fumble in satisfaction compared to pinning a dude to a wall with a log. Hell no other gun has satisfy me like the stake launcher.

they are two fantastic weapons, mostly Hypnosis in my opinion, and i did (and still do in some cases) feel that many guns leave quite a lot to be desired. Though Dueslist is great, Cricket is really good when you master agressive combat, I've heard really good things about Hunger (tho im not a big fan) and Angelus looks bad with just the first misterium but it gets insane with the other two. But i do think that many of the guns lack elements to make them feel truly powerful and unique and you just forget about them. Keep in mind that they are still focused on other things and balance can be quite tricky for devs, as the game progresses im pretty confident they'll revise the weapons that they already have and listen to our respectful feedback

Every gun has a place where it shines. It's all about learning how to use them. Though everyone has a different style of play so you should play the way you enjoy. Hangfire is my favorite personally since used well you can play pretty aggressively and it has excellent trap and stagger potential. Plus it's very economy friendly. Angelus, any fast firing weapon like the cricket, and all the shotguns do well in fast aggressive playstyles where you play extremely risky for maximum reward. Mid range to long range weapons such as Hypnosis, Basilisk, and the Striga require you to keep at a medium range for maximum damage. This is mainly due to their slower fire rate, or needing time to activate their abilities.

You should play how you want, but this game rewards being up close and personal more than ranged combat and although they can work in extremely close range. I don't recommend them in these conditions, minus Striga (does less damage at extremely close range), unless you know what you are doing and it takes more environmental awareness to maximize them. The game isn't that hard though, but I'm positive there are plenty of struggling players. I'd rather tell them to learn the weapon's strongest positions before they use them in more complex encounters where it's higher risk for smaller payout, but more fun imo.

It is not because you feel - it is because they ARE garbage
At gnosis 4 every regular weapon, except Striga, is useless crap
Why? Because it is the only weapon which doesn't forces you to get close to your enemy and viable at any distance (if you have good aim ofc)
And not only weapons - skills and trinkets too: most of them are crap at G4

Meanwhile me with every piece of gear available in the game maxed out, using Basilisk and Rotweaver exclusively :HappyWF:

It's not about the damage, it's about the DPS and potential for combos. Rotweaver, for example, applies decay easily, and by mixing elements and arcana with that you can melt bosses way faster than the Striga ever could.
The Striga IS great. And it IS OP. It is VERY easy to use. It is not the only OP weapon. Other weapons need more technique to get the most out of them, but can be equally OP or even stronger once you know the mechanics.
Striga is basicaly promo weapon in its own tier.

Striga is S tier, half of the weapons A and other half B tier.

There are no rly bad weapons. You just have to shape your whole build (weapons/items, sometimes arcana or alchemy) to synergy with weapon.

Even if probably everyonecould agree that Striga is the best, the most broken weapon is Frostbite with 1 or 2 arcanas which can delete bosses in seconds. But Striga is just very universal allrounder.

Sub-optimal builds are the best builds for masochists like me.

Ain't being in B tier defines as being really bad? Jeez

What if you wont recieve that specific arcanas? Then your Frostbite is just waste
I remember telling the devs "the weapons suck." (and to be fair, outside of the sniper rifle, they really did). I kept saying, "where is the double barrel shotgun that I can one-shot demons and blow their heads of with?" Sugar, one of the devs, ripped me a new one. And rightly so in hindsight. The devs really like their weapons lol

In any case, take solace in knowing there isn't a single complaint any of you have discussed on Steam that the devs hadn't already heard from me a thousand times :)

Everyone says the stake driver is fantastic but I just can't hit anything to get the stun effect off. By the time I swap weapons, the enemy has unstunned.

The bolt action rifle is amazing though, honestly one of the most satisfying guns I've used in a game.

Clearly you haven't learned to use All-Seeing-Eye correctly.
Positioning is key but you can wreck groups of enemies with it if done so properly.

Even better if you get a grenadier in your face. Spread that love to everyone around him.

The way I play I don't feel weapons are necessity at all - and all because of the two spells and a ring - all of them very specific.

I can run whatever weapon(s) and everything, bosses included, just dissolves in 10 seconds max.

I wrote a detailed reddit guide half an year or so ago and I was recommending the same stuff to players that want to have fun.

You are incorrect - the most powerful item in the game IS a ring, paired with a specific arcana.

You can also use most of the weapons with very little exceptions, but you have to adjust your loadout to do that.

Oh - and I also play pretty much exclusively in point blank range of the enemies - that's how the build works.

And all the items you need is the Shadowmist Ring, Burning Stake, Storm Ball and the Shattered Soul skill fro the water arcana(which with the Prophecy of Water you can re-roll until you get it).

Also - aside of being the most effective way to play the game afaik - it's the most spectacular one, due to the 3 elements chaining together and creating an explosion of colors so beautiful that could make your eyes bleed if you play more than 2 hours straight :D

I can explain in details why and how this works so well, but it would take too much space so - just trust me it does.

And another great part about all that combo - delivers so much stagger and stun, that when you do 1v1 fights(bosses) they remain stunlocked pretty much - provided you got the stamina and the balls to fight everything in really close range.
