yellow altars + clinking noise

anyone have any idea what to do with the weird golden altars? they have the big sphere floating above them and when you get close it makes metal rustling sounds but i have no idea what i'm meant to do with them

rotate around the floating sphere and look through it. you will see 3 yellow floating markers you can shoot through the sphere. Every time you shoot one a candle should change from yellow to blue. Shoot all 3 to reveal the chest. Basically use the sphere as a magic mirror to find the targets.
