Locatin Calamity?

I've only started playing and for now visited only two locations. Sticking mostly to the second one. I've triggered Calamity for a few times and even won twice...

But I still have a few questions:
1. How the hell do I find the Calamity catalyst to destroy it before calamity spawns?
2. Sometimes there are no Calamitie/enemies nearby to fight, and I ran out of sanity before I could find where the hell is it spawned. How do I locate them?

If the game indicates it, somehow I'm completely blind and can't see or understand it.

I have to assume it's a bug. Feels like 50/50 chance that the Calamity will be marked on your map appropriately. And other times it won't be, which can make it difficult to find.

When it does show up on the map properly, the Calamity Catalyst is marked by a Tornado vortex looking marker.

For me, it's 50/50 if it's drops right on top of me / in the direct line of my sight, or somewhere else entirely (I haven't found a single one of those yet). And yeah, there is nothing on my map. I've checked enough times if there is something new, during the spawn and after.

when calamity timer stars, look up at the sky after a few seconds and you should be able to see the vortex and from there you should be able to find your way to it, also in case you get the drowned ship calamity then there is no catalyst, you have to engage with the ship

Does the Ghost ship calamity just not have a vortex to destroy? Past few times I've seen that in chat it was what I was getting I was running around of course looking up and around but there was nothing to run towards.

For the second map, I've had 6 Calamities, I've won 5/6, of course the one I died too, was kinda weird, I double jumped down a cliff to get there, and I just "died." I've had the Ghost Ship once, was a pain, because I had already had a bad run. the other 4 all spawned at the the gate between the 2 little villages in the southern portion, near where you portal in the very first time. The other, spawned in one of the passes near the East side of the map, where the thorn archways are located.

Sorry about the locations being somewhat vague, but I haven't memorized all the names of the places just yet.

Yes, you need destroy big cannon balls to degrade ship's weakspots HP, then destroy this weakspots.

Ohhh thank you for this tip! I am 3/3 having it not show up on my map so every time it started I was just in a mad dash for a portal, glad to know there is another way to track it down other than aimlessly sprinting around.
