What is the break in the stamina bar

Funny, I forgot to ask this 50 hours of playtime ago.
What's with the small break in the stamina bar? It almost always shows up no matter how much pain damage you take, and the Preyer doesn't appear to move slower when stamina is lower than the breakpoint. It doesn't measure the amount of stamina you need to dodge, so... what's left?

If you have focus, and your stamina is above that break, when you dodge you will see soul orbs that you can shoot to stun the enemy. At least, that is my understanding.

This is the amount of stamina you can lost because of receiving damage/ lose sanity in specific situations or in other words its your bonus stamina. before the stake update it was normal to start without the bonus. you can get your bonus (back) by defeating enemies. if you reached maximum stamina the bar becomes yellow and you are in this focus state explained by the user above
