I'd love to see a break-action shotgun. The side-by-side (like DooM's super shotgun) is cool, but honestly an elegant over-under design would fit WF's aesthetics perfectly. I suggest the Browning Superposed. It could function similar to the Hailstorm, with high base damage and low ammo. I know shotguns have a spread so its easier to use but it is more dangerous to use(have to get close, only 2 shots) so the rewards should be greater.
There is room between the effective distance of the Rotweaver and the Hangfire for a submachine gun, or semi-auto hand gun. I like the idea of a handgun better. The Bergmann 1896 would be a good fit visually. I suggest that it rewards the player for staying calm and using precise shots at close ranges, maybe the damage increases with head shots but the bonus reset on completely missed shots. For a submachine gun maybe once the Mysterium is activated the gun could automatically regenerate ammo but when the player takes damage it resets. I think the Beretta M12 would make a good looking WF gun.
There is also room between the Ricochet and the All Seeing Eye for a semi-auto rifle. The Fusil Automatique Modèle 1917 is a wild looking gun that absolutely fits this game. The thing is, I'm not sure how it would be much different than the bolt actions. They already shoot pretty fast. Maybe this could shoot as fast as you pull the trigger, do low damage but has a strong elemental Mysterium? I'm not sure here. Or to go another route, have a single shot rifle like the Springfield Model 1873. It could boast super high damage with a very slow fire rate and since you have to get closer than the All Seeing Eye, it would be rather dangerous to miss your shot. You would have to be hyper aware of your positioning as it would be easy to get surrounded.
For the melee weapons, I know its cliche, but if we don't get some kind of poison coated curved dagger adorned with occult symbols I will be disappointed.
Since we know that the stats are being reworked I didn't think much about how to make these ideas fit a build within the game. Or how this would work with Arcana but I don't think any of these ideas would just break the game. Either way, it was more or less a fun thought exercise. I just tried to find gaps in the existing line up. Range and Rate of Fire seem like the biggest ones to me.
+1 to All of that.
And a lever action rifle (or shotgun.. or both).
I level action shotgun like the Winchester Model 1887 with the 18 inch barrel would be sick. The levering animation could be the Preyer throwing the barrel over his shoulder with his hand in the lever. Then once the stock bounces against the lever he flips it forward into the "ready" position. It would look pretty bad ass ngl.
a flintlock.
