Tower Building Contest

[Gaddy Games]

Here is a little contest for fun ! (I'll post an announcement soon)

The one who build the highest tower will win 10 keys of the game (so you can offer them to your family or friends, or do nothing with it, it's a contest for fun !).
You have one month, until the 25th of November.

EDIT: the 2nd will get 3 keys, the 3rd will get 2 keys


Rules:
- You must use this saved game: http://gaddygames.com/games/DigOrDie/divers/Tower%20Building%20Contest.zip . Unzip it in your Dig or Die save folder (something like C:\Users\<user>\AppData\LocalLow\Gaddy Games\Dig or Die)
- Your tower must only be anchored to the top of the 5 horizontal ground tiles (don't replace the lights below by walls, and don't touch the left & right big walls)
- The tower must be stable (do not fall within a few second, ok to be saved/loaded)
- When you are done, post a screenshot of the top of your tower (so we can see the height indication on the left) but you don't have to show the rest of its structure
- If several people get the same height, the first one to get it (and post the screenshot) will have won
- At the end the winner will have to upload the file in public so everybody can enjoy its brillant architecture (and check that there was no cheat !)

Also, don't hesitate to post tips and advices to other people, it's for fun :-)

Well, I've gotten the achievement in a legit game for a really tall tower, I wonder if I can win this one. If anybody wants any tips go check out my bridge building guide, bridge building and tower building have many similarities!

I think so, the best tower I could build reached a height of sixty... Im glad to beat you but I'm afraid a height of 72 is no laughing matter!

Well, that depends on if the rules were followed to the letter. lol
I am curious how it was done, with a base that is only 5 wide. I had a lot of trouble just getting to the 50's. lol

hum... i made it to 65... and each one more block is to difficult to add ^^ But that's very challenging and more interesting that I thought :-)

Here are the advices and tricks I found (but they might be wrong above 65 height !) :
- Don't build in symmetry: from the top to the bottom the width should be 1, then 2, then 3, etc. not 1 then 3 then 5
- Use the 3 composite blocks, they all are useful: the concrete at the bottom, the steal support at the middle, and the light concrete on top. The difficulty is to find the best altitude to change to the lighter block on each column
- The base has a width of 5 but you can actually start with a build of 7. Because the way the simulation works, the block anchored with the ground itself cannot break, it's the links between 2 blocks that breaks
- You must have all your blocks forces as red as possible, if it's not red enough you should probably use a lighter wall
- F5 all the time ^^ but wait a few second after adding a difficult block, sometime it holds a few second before breaking

If you have any other advices don't hesitate !

Good idea, such little challenge each month would be fun, and would not take too much time from me. And with modified saved game everyone could enjoy specific things in the game. Building a bridge would be nice for sure ; if you have other ideas don't hesitate (something with circuit ? in the volcano ? with the water pressure/generators ?)

If you could change the length of the night in the save file, then you can do some sort of arena.
Didn't know you could do a base of 7. I migh try it. Honestly there is nothing special about my tower, it is just trial and error. Sometime it was so close the rain made it collapse.

@Milo: no sorry, but why not, maybe i could give 1 or 2 keys for 2/3rd places, i'll think about it :)
What do you mean by background ? The backwall ? no sorry, only the solid blocks
