Question regarding the two endings
thank you for helping me.

I scrutinised both endings. Outside of what player saw visibly in the endings (Sedgewick dead,Sedgewick alive) what were the repercussions?

The girl smashed the mirror-what would occur as a result of her doing that?

The girl mended the mirror- besides resurrecting sedgewick, what would occur as a result of her doing that?

It appeared that spot morphed into a sort of angelic being in the end, Was this a result of him dying? I did not witness any death scenario involving spot.

can anyone please explain this to me?

Not sure if I understand your question properly - you can see the results of smashing/mending the mirror right in the endings: If Renie smashes the mirror, she wakes up and finds herself back in the real world. If she mends the mirror, she stays in Silence. While Renie was in coma due to the bombing attacks, she (or rather her mind) visited Silence, a world between life and death, something like Limbo. I think, smashing or mending the mirror is somewhat a symbol for the choice if Renie wants to stay in her "dream world" or rather wake up and face reality.

There's another thread about the endings, maybe this one could help you:

Btw, he's called Sadwick :)

Spot is a caterpillar. He just evolved into a batterfly.

But if the mirror is smashed than everything ends for Silence. This world only exists when it's creator is inside.

So Sadwick was never alive in either scenario...is that right? He was just a figment of Renie's imagination. If I broke the mirror then I simply woke Renie up from a dream which turned into a nightmare only because Sadwick was dead in the dream...is that right?

That isn't Sadwick, it's Renie's brother Noah (the real person whom Sadwick is an imitation of).

Did you play the first game (The Whispered World)? That game follows Sadwick, who breaks the mirror to save Noah's life.

Basically, Silence is a world that can only be reached by someone who is dying. That person is the king/queen of Silence, and has a choice to either remain in Silence, or break the mirror and wake up the real world.

Basically, both Noah/Sadwick (in the first game) and Renie (in the second) have a choice to either spend the rest of their "life" in a comfortable illusion, or an uncomfortable reality.

I agree in many points with other answer, just adding some of my understanding.

Yes, Silence is a place between life and death that was created by Noah in the first opus. In the second game (Silence), I think Reinie "dreams" (if being in coma is technically dreaming) from the stories that Noah told her from this place.

In my opinion, the mirror choice is kinda a disguise for the following question : Do you want to awake and go back to reality and live, as sad as it may be, or do you prefere to separate your spirit (consious being that is in Silence) from your real body (and let it die) and stay forever in this Limbo world that is Silence ?

So basically, it is the choice bewteen live in a real world of die and stay in an illusion world.

Also, for the "Sadwick was never alive", I agree with that too. It is also something really deep in this game, when the one that though he was Noah understand he is just another a part of Reinie imagination and that he accepts himself as Sadwick. Later in the game, he even speak about Noah with the third-person.

But I don't really get why would Noah be dead in the "smashing" option and not in the "mending" option, apart a terrible joke from the dev telling us "There is no better choice, noob ! Both ends terribly."

We cant be sure Renie being dead in the "mending" ending and Noah in the "smashing" one. Remember, before Sadwick broke his mirror it was whole, while Noah being in coma. A whole mirror might as well mean being sealed in the world of silence. Since its a world between live an death, dying could be a end for this world as well, we dont know it.

However, both endings gives Daedalic an option for a third part. Either of them could be in coma, and the other one might try to save him. Like Noahs Dad did, reading to him. Thus, I deeply hope for a sequel!

Noah's dad is dead. Noah and Renie live in orphanage.

The Mend ending is her accpeting the comfort of Silence and dying. Smashing the Mirror means waking up to the real world and to her dead brother. Silence is a illusion, Sadwick is a dream of her brother.

In this case choosing the puddle absolutly would kill her, but Noah is already dead. I chose the unpleasent truth and an uncomfortable life.

But if you mend the mirror and stay in Silence, Noah wakes up. I didnt like ethier ending.

If Renie mends the mirror, she can break it any point later, she has an access to it now. Maybe once Noah calls to her, when she is in coma, she can clearly see/hear the"real" world, when she wants to.

I don't know if Spot died, but the scene where Spot and Renie were flying was obviously a dream of Renie's. She fell asleep on the deck of the ship, then after she fell from the sky in the flying scene, she woke up, back on the deck.
This was sort of a dream within a dream, I suppose.

For some reason this story reminded me of the Falco song "Jeanny". It was probably some of the lyrics :

"Renie, quit livin' on dreams
Renie, life is not what it seems
Such a lonely little girl in a cold, cold world
There's someone who needs you
Renie, quit livin' on dreams
Renie, life is not what it seems
You're lost in the night, don't wanna struggle and fight
There's someone, who needs you! Oh babe."

I'm thinking - well it might just be one of my wild fantasies - that maybe the developer(s) were influenced by this song, maybe also by the German synthpop group Propaganda's song "Dream Within a Dream" (this song's lyrics are from a poem by Edgar Allan Poe). I mean, they're all from the Austrian / German culture sphere (except Poe).

I feel the game's about death versus life, rather than illusion versus reality. The False Queen is Renie's subconsciousness asking her to give up after she was severely injured. While they're talking, she even mentions "she's freezing to death", which she is, as shown in the reflection.

The mending ending is Renie choosing to let go and die, while the breaking ending is her choosing to live, as tough as that might be.
