Saving Mudokons, secret areas and chanting to heal
I'm in the process of my first playthrough and im just focusing on having a good time working through the game and not stressing too much about finding secret areas. However I was wondering whether on my current save its possible to start an older unlocked chapter and rescue those mudokons that i might have missed, and whether this would affect my current mudukon save count?

I gotta make sure i get 150 or more :)

Also im playing on hard mode yet i notice when i chant i get healed by birds from time to time. If i only have one life why are birds healing me?

The birds are useful for 'minor' threats like bats and bees, which even in hard mode don't kill in one hit. (just like in the original version though so nothing was dumbed down on that end)

Also, it's 151 or more.

You can indeed go back to any unlocked Chapter to find all the missing Mudokons. It will overwrite your current Checkpoint / Quiksave, but you can always return to the latest Chapter you got to.

To get the 100% Mudokon Saved achievements though, you need to rescue them all in one full playthrough, so loading each Chapter won't work. (but makes good practice) ;)

Unless they changed this with the 1.1 patch this isn't true. I saved 295 Mudokons in my first play through, went back and replayed the full chapter where I missed some (found by looking at the % complete in the chapter select) and then replayed the last chapter too to trigger the achievement. Much easier than the original where I had no idea where I missed them. This should also work with the achievement New 'n' Hasty (Rescue every Mudokon with an overall Best Time of 3:00:00 or less).
