Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition

Can't seem to install FSX-XPACK SimConnect
Well, lately I've been trying to install FSXWX on Steam Edition, and I have run into some problems with getting the correct SimConnect. I am able to succesfully install "FSX-RTM" and "FSX-SP1" .msi but when I attempt to install the "FSX-XPACK" I get the "Windows is configuring blah blah blah: Gathering required information" and then it just closes, no EULA or anything.
Thanks for helping me out here!

that would be because the Xpack simconnect is now included in the FSX:SE install, since the last update after the beta was closed
you appear to be missing the LIB simconnect tho, it is located
where fsx:se is installed in my E: drive
E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\lib
You installed SP1 and XPack on FSX-SE? I thought both were included in SE already? Uninstall and start over without those... Just install the Simconnect from XPack
no need to install the simconnect from xpack, it is now included in the install since the last update, the RTM, SP1 and LIB are not installed.
I do agree to uninstall and reinstall trying to only install the simconnects mentioned after.
also make sure to run steam as an admin, and make sure AV is turned off(might check for UAC if installed on vista/win7 machines as well)

I have now the exact same problem as the OP.
I am not sure if I have simconnect properly installed since I can't connect facetracknoir for example. So I tried to install all versions of Simconnect from the legacy folder, but after clicking on the msi files, a window pops up with "gathering system information..." then it closes and nothing happens.
I really don't know why the installers won't run.
Anyone knows a solution for this?
This is EXACTLY what is going on with me. I cannot get ANY A2A aircraft to work in SE... yet they work fine in my boxed install.

Click on the Xpack and it never asks for the license agreement acceptance .. all others installed no issue.
I had exactly the same problem when I installed Active Sky....and I couldn't get at least one of the simconnects from the legacy folder to install with precisely the same error message.

All I can say is that if you Google the error message you will find a number of suggestions.....and one of them worked for me. Sorry can't remember which one; you'll just have to put the time in!
What error message do you speak of.. there is no error message.. the only indications that it did not install is that there is no EULA popup... nor is there a remove script in the software and features panel.

"Windows is configuring etc etc"
Any Updates on this? Same issue.

if you open "add/remove programs" or "programs and features" or whatever they decided to call it in your version of Windows - do you see "Microsoft Flight Simulator Simconnect Client" listed at all?
yes. I have 4 entries in there.
versions:
10.0.62615.0
10.0.61242.0
10.0.60905.0
10.0.61259.0

Then you're good, that's all of them installed.
