Embraer 175/195 liveries
Does anyone know whether the McPhat payware liveries will work for these aircraft in Steam? I've tried some freeware liveries from about the same era (e.g. Air Canada) which load ok but the textures are just way too dark to be useable.

I've successfully installed for the Embraer 175 and 195 some feelthere liveries using this guide:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=585088367

I've also designed liveries for these airplanes at the colors of the VA I fly for, using the MK studio free paint kit.

No problem so far, but never tried mc phat textures.

If you give a link to a free texture you have issue with, I can give a try.

An example of freeware liveries that load but end up with one side of the airplane being way too dark, flightsim.com Air Canada 2011-09-08_e195_air-canada_c-fmzz.zip. Thx for the guide advice, I did use it successfully for the planes it loads, but it doesnt' resolve the dark texture problem for other freewared. Any help appreciated. I'd be happy to purchase the mcphat liveries if they work.

It could be DX10 preview if that is enabled.

I turned on DX10 preview but the problem persists: one side of the aircraft is too dark. Puzzling.

Ok, so took at this texture, and it turns out this is a FS2004 texture made for the Embraer 195 v1, for FS9.
The v2 Embraer 195 for FSX (this DLC) uses a slightly different set of textures.

However, as often with FSX, there's a very simple way to make new stuff based on older stuff :steamhappy:

This is what you will get, with a 5 mn file copy/paste:

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=687553868
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=687553927
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=687553903
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=687553958

For that, do the following:

In your E195 folder: DLC\364324\SimObjects\Airplanes\feelThere PIC E195
you fill find the textures folders.

1/ Make a copy of the folder name texture, and rename the copied folder to: texture.C-FMZZ (delete the previous one with same name you installed previously).
This texture folder contains the default Embraer livery.

2/ Enter this new texture.C-FMZZ folder, and delete the 9 following files:
>>>BE VERY CAREFULL<<< to select the good ones, many of them hold similar names!

190_Fus_1_T.dds
190_Fus_2_T.dds
190_Fus_3_T.dds
Eng_left_T.dds
Eng_right_T.dds
Tail_T.dds
thumbnail.jpg
Wing_left_T.dds
Wing_right_T.dds

3/ Go into the Air Canada livery folder from the downloaded package (texture.C-FMZZ folder)

4/ Copy and paste into the texture.C-FMZZ of your E195 DLC folder that you created above, the 8 following files:

190_Fus_1_T.bmp
190_Fus_2_T.bmp
190_Fus_3_T.bmp
Eng_left_T.bmp
Eng_right_T.bmp
Tail_T.bmp
Wing_left_T.bmp
Wing_right_T.bmp

5/ And lastly the 9th file, you can use also the thumbnail in the main folder of the texture package.
There's a file named: thumb.gif
Copy it also to the texture.C-FMZZ of your E195 DLC folder, and rename it: thumbnail.jpg
No need to convert it to jpg, the IE9 FSX interface will convert and display it correctly in the Aircraft selection window :steamhappy:
(if you prefer, you can of course convert it or create another thumbnail image 256x128 jpg file)

That's done.

Enjoy the E195 Air Canada!

Thanks for the detailed help but no, even following your instructions carefully twice I'm still left with the fuselage being way too dark. The problem persists, as it does when I try to use other freeware liveries. The tail and engines on the freeware liveries are fine, it's just the fuselage which is too dark. I got in touch with McPhat studies who have directed me to contact FeelThere to see if they work, McPhat couldn't confirm one way or the other. It's very odd. I have a very generic Steam installation with not much in the way of addons. Still puzzled.

Tried again: it works!!!! Thanks so much. It also suggests a work round for other similar liveries. Thank you so much for your time and effort to help.
