You should try XP11 with that rig, would look amazing with 1080.
It's a jungle to me :).
So. Freemesh, ORBX Global FTX, North America LC + Global Vector?
Or should I simply remove Freemesh after this?
Whether it's Freemesh or a payware product, you are going to want to have some sort of Mesh scenery add on if you want your default scenery hills, mountains, etc. to look more realistic.
I thought one of those ORBX modules served as a mesh? I don't want to double up so I lose memory :).
no it doesn't matter with mesh, you can have multiple mesh installed for an area and FSX will just choose the most detailed one and loads that.
if you can't decide whether or not to buy an add on when it's on -50% sale then I think you shouldn't get the add on. It'll be on sale again.
To me it doesn't matter if it costs 1$ or 1000$. I wonder whether given those pre-requisites. Is it worth also getting this? From the looks of it, the answer is no so far. Obviously when I read on the orbx forums there is a lot of talk of severe impact on fps etc.
It's not that I'm unsure, it's that I'm not going to talk you into it if you're not sure.
I don't own or use Global Vector, I have a couple of UTX (ultimate terrain X) regions which is a similar kind of thing, one for EU because it's home and one for carribean because the default scenery there is rubbish. I have freemesh installed and a higher detailed mesh for the UK.
The main things you get from these types of vector scenery are improved roads, rivers, railroads and coastlines which is great for me as a GA flyer. If you spend most of your time 6 miles off the ground in an airbus then, meh, maybe it's overkill and it's enough just to have mesh and landclass.
If you want it, get it - if you're not sure then wishlist it and get it next sale or when you are sure.
It's quite simple really. If you think the vector addon adds significant improvements compared to those packages I already have. Then I will trust your judgement :).
This was a good answer. Could be that I don't really gain much as an airline flyer (although I do GA too, mainly in XP nowadays).
It runs both FSX and XP well enough. I would like to get a 1080 for XP at least but those damn BitCoin miners have ruined that market.
I noticed that there are a lot of config options in Vector. This was not mentioned in the reviews I read. I will try those if it goes bad.
Now off to try all those freeware Airports scattered around USA and Canada :).
