You can start the pmdg in cold and dark way easier than doing all of that Morag. Do you even have the PMDG 737 yourself? KnightNight, Enter the FMC of said 737 and PMDG Setup on the main menu. Within that page you can find a Cold and Dark button which will set your 737 up cold and dark every time you want to go flying. Enjoy!

Make a free flight using the default C172 at a quiet/remote default airfield in your time zone. You don't need to bother with a flight plan or anything, just having the 172 on the runway is fine.

Start the flight, pull the mixture lever back to kill the engine then return it to full rich.

Turn off all the radios, the avionics and battery master switches and click all the lights off.

Save the flight making sure to tick the 'make this my default flight' (or whatever it says, it's something like that) then exit the flight and restart the sim.

All of your free flights, with any aircraft, should now start cold and dark.
