Also, every time I turn the engine on, smoke billows out the front. I have tried repairing the engine, repairing the magnetos, repairing the propeller and replacing the oil, but nothing is making any difference. It still smokes like a chimney every time I start the engine (at least some keyboard commands are recognised). I'm at my wit's end trying to figure out what the problem is. The engine seems to run great though.
I love the idea behind this plane, and think it's quite cool to have to fuel it up and do proper pre-flight checks etc., but all those extra bells and whistles are not much use if you can't do pushbacks or turn the plane, or other basic functions like that. And if it won't turn on the ground, presumably it won't turn in the air either.
I've tried to fiddle with the settings, but that doesn't seem to make a blind bit of difference. Most frustrating, because it would be pretty awesome if it would only work properly, and I really like the other DIamond, the DA40, which is up there with my most favourite add-on light planes.
There's a towbar built into the addon, but at least on mine, it's bugged(EDIT: Instead of towing the plane around, it will send it flying as if launched by a giant slingshot if pushed - Experiment yourself). Not a huge loss as it still flies well.
That smoke does sound odd. Make sure you didn't accidentally turn on smoke in FSX. The default keybinding is I.
Firstly, your plane ALWAYS wants to pitch up. When fllying the real thing, I might use a little trim here and there but on your version, I need so much down trim that I may aswell use full and constant input on the elevator. Secondly, the down elevator won't even respond. Just to land the thing I need so my down pitch (elevator and trim) that by the time it starts finally pitching down, there is no way to life the nose again to land on the runway.
If you are going to charge this much for an addon, at least make sure the basic mechanics are in place first and they are reasonably accurate. Sure your plane is pretty, and the detail is impressive, but what the hell is the point in all that if you cannot even fly it or even worse, if it is nothing at all like the real plane??????
Please fix this!
