Sorry, I've never noticed because In 15 years I have never separated mine. I think I did once in the beginning but just decided it more comfortable to keep them attached together. Many flightsticks just have a lever and don't even have the separation of the throttle capability at all. I'm sorry I don't know the details of any other models that do separate the throttle and stick or what their details are. I think Thrustmaster has a newer model that does though. Again, I just don't know the details. They have a website I'm sure you can find the details of their newer models there. And I'm sure others will chime in with some recommends for you. Good Luck
