As everyone has stated here before, FSX and FSX-SE are simulations and not a game. And simulations are very similar to a hobby. And as we all know hobbies can be very expensive. I don’t know how old you are, but regardless, I remember when I first got FSX. I thought this would be a great fun experience. Then I realize if I really wanted a full blown experience, I would need to spend a few extra dollars. If you spend the time looking around the Internet, you will see that a few extra dollars could literally become thousands of dollars very quickly. Remember it only cost $5.00, but you decide to the amount realism you need when you play. I have invested a lot of money on add on airplanes (A2A, Carenado) good controllers, and of course a good computer. Now if you want some noise coming from the back of a plane, and the ability to schedule the flights, then maybe $50.00 is worth it to you. The basic game is well worth $5.00. In the FSX world you really do get a lot for that $5.00. Enjoy the game or should I say hobby and remember for the $5.00 that you spent you can fly around your hometown or around the world without ever leaving your room.
Well said. Hence the name, 'Flight Simulator X', this is geared towards the simulation side of things. You can easily sink four figures into this hobby if you're serious enough.
with all due respect, this is a game and a hobby...i expect that FreeSOul is under 25 years old and probably doesn't have a lot of extra cash....i am older and understand what it takes to get the full experience...this is game and this is a hobby for many of us...i agree, its not an excuse but i guarantee its reality.
But it has nothing to do with simulation or not, or if I have enough money (which I have don't worry about it) or not.
And yes FSX is a hobby, but FSX is the simulator, not FSPassengers.
Have you looked at the price when FSX first came out? It cost more than FSPass. This is just another release years after the debut and was on sale hence it costing next to nothing. I don't think it was a good move to make FSX so cheap for the first few days, now it's just full of little kids flying FA-18s everywhere.
But for what concerns add-ons like FSPassagers or sceneries (like FTX global) that can target most of FSX users, I don't understand well the high pricing since they could make much more money by selling cheap. Personnaly, I was fine paying >50€ for the PMDG 737 NGX, but I'll never put 37€ for FSPassagers.
I think FSPass dying a natural death is a good thing. Because what we have here is a opportunity for some enterprising individual. I'm pretty sure something similar to FSPass could be developed for FS:SE. I'm thinking about it myself but its a big commitment and I'm not sure I'm willing to undertake it. But its an opportunity to "inherit" the peeved off people who are no longer supported by the dev of the original app, and I'm pretty sure they would be grateful to have an app written by a proper dev who isn't going to run away when things get too difficult.
I own both FsPassengers and FsCaptain, Fs Captain is the better add-on in my opinion. FsC is more focused on the life of a commercial pilot (Including the dispatch). It's cheaper as well..
Check it out: http://www.fscaptain.net/
PS: FsPassenger is very overpriced to be honest.
