Thanks Tsarcasm, I have it installed and running in FSX SE, it's a nice add on. Unfortunately, it does not appear that you can install this in both FSX SE and P3Dv4 at the same time, you can do one or the other, but not both. I tried both the auto installer and custom installation for P3D v4 and either way it comes back with an error message that says something to the effect of "AI carriers V2 detected, it must be uninstalled first".
Have any ideas how I might get around this... I have an idea, but it would probably involve editing the XML.exe file in P3D to add the following text which I found in the FSX SE XML.exe file in appdata/roaming/Microsoft/FSX.... Naturally, I would have to modify the pathe entry to reflect the location of my P3D installation which I have installed on an SSD designated D:\
</Launch.Addon>
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>AICarriers</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\AICarriers\AICarriers.exe</Path>
</Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>
The only other option I can think of is to uninstall and re-install each time I want to change from FSX to P3Dv4 and vice versa, which seems like a pain in the neck.. lol
Thanks again.
I hope it helps you out.
AICarriers2 USS Nimitz and USS Eisenhower
The latest version of AICarriers.exe uses the .NET4.0 Framework which must be installed on your computer before you attempt the very easy installation of this add-on.
There are two parts to this add-on, AICarriers.exe which enables the way that the add-on operates, and the installation of the ships themselves.
To obtain AICarriers.exe for your .NET 4.0 Framework download AICarriers.zip from:
http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=11293.0
The Ships file uss_nimitz_ike_version2.zip file can be downloaded from:
https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/2618/fsx-aircraft-carrier-uss-nimitz/
The installation instuctions are insufficiently specific, parts relating to the old JAVA version.
Hence these condensed, and precise, instructions on how to install correctly.
[Download the .xml file editor Notepad++ You will need it to edit the provided sample_exe.xml file.]
PART 1 - Installation of AICarriers.exe:
1. Copy AICarriers.exe and aicarriers.cfg and the configuration directory, conf.d to a newly created AICarriers folder, which you have created, on:
C:\Program Files (x86)\AICarriers.
2. Copy the sample_exe.cfg to:
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX and rename it exe.xml
3. With the XML Editor, open exe.xml and change:
"REPLACE WITH PATH TO AICarriers.exe" to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\AICarriers\AICarriers.exe
Part 2 - Installation of USS Nimitz and USS Eisenhower, etc.
1. Copy the cvn_68_69.cfg file into the conf.d folder inside your AICarriers folder at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\AICarriers\conf.d
2. Copy all three folders - Simobjects, Effects and Sound - into your main FSX folder. Merge these folders with existing folders.
Check the folders for doubles (2) and delete them.
3. Re-boot.
Run the AICarriers2 program by starting FSX. You should be asked if you want to run AICarriers.exe and if it should be treated as trusted.
Click OK twice and proceed by running FSX.
When the main screen opens you should see a new tray icon which reads:
AI Carriers (1.0.0.0)
AI Carriers is connected to Microsoft Flight Simulator X
Your First Flight.
Open a free flight choosing a Navy F18 Blue Angel . Place it at San Francisco International KSFO, set your other flight preferences, and save the flight for future use.
You should do one example in daylight and another for night operations.
Click Fly Now!
When the flight loads apply brake and unhide the menu bar.
You should see, after Help, a new entry - Add-ons. Click on it to see the keyboard command SHIFT+J.
Leave the menu bar open to find the fleet's position when you have spawned it in front of you, when you are over the Pacific and - not - before.
When you are over the ocean press SHIFT+J and select 9 and the USS Nimitz on its own.
In the next window put the carrier 10nm away to give yourself enough time for landing.
Press SHIFT+J again and choose 1 to start the carrier steaming forwards.
At night the carrier is ablaze with lights.

It works perfectly just as it was installed with the auto installer. All the carriers, fleets, and other options etc. appear in the add ons drop down menu, and they all work just as they should.
I've got some ideas churning around in my head as to how I'm going to "trick it" in to working cross platform, ie. with both FSX SE and P3D v4, since neither the auto installer or manual "custom install" option seem to work. But it's no big deal, I'll figure it out eventually, and I will pass on the info to anyone who might want it. Thanks again.
Well, I got it installed and working in both P3D v4 and FSX SE, so I am a happy camper. Now if I can just get logged on to the Task Force FSX website, apparently they have some excellent add on ships and stuff designed specifically to work with this version of AI Carriers v2, for some reason the site is offline, perhaps they are doing maintenance or something because it was online yesterday when I checked.
Do you or anybody know of this alternative which they say beats Steam's connection? http://pmem.uk/joinfs/install.html
http://indiafoxtecho.blogspot.com/
Scroll down the page a bit until you see "freeware downloads"
Installation is simple, but to get it to show up in AI carriers in the add-ons menu in FSX SE you'll need to add the following entries to the very end of the aicarriers.cfg file....
[formation.8]
title=USS America LHA-6 empty deck
unit.0=USS America LHA-6 empty deck, 0, 0
[formation.9]
title=USS America LHA-6 F-35 operations
unit.0=USS America LHA-6 F-35 operations, 0, 0
[formation.10]
title=USS America LHA-6 MV-22 operations
unit.0=USS America LHA-6 MV-22 operations, 0, 0
Are you using the Rikooo version which is self installing?
Yes, and that one works fine, it was a different version I downloaded elsewhere that I couldn't get to work. Can't even recall where I got it now.
https://www.rikoooo.com/downloads/viewdownload/8/203
Its the first time that Norton allowed a Rikoooo download without deleting it.
Odd.
BTW I installed Steve's DX 10 fix last night, following advice from Rogen, and it appears to work like a charm at improving all of the scenery. But it seems that I have lost some instrument tooltip info and now have to look at the glass panel for speed and altitude settings.
Early days...
Also took out the old MS Flight Simulator key in the registry under HKCU
Hasn't affected FSX SE
Have to make a new drive image now. ;-)
Glad you got it installed and working, it's an excellent add on IMHO and thanks to Tsarcasm for linking it earlier in this thread.
DX10 Fixer is probably in the top 5 "must have" add on's for FSX SE IMHO, and Rogen's advice is spot on as usual.
Since you have now got DX10 fixer installed I would recommend you get Reshade as well...

Download here.... https://reshade.me/
In the meantime, get this a.s.a.p. it works great after seeing the explanation on how to add add FSX scenery on steam. IT WORKS in multiplayer WITHOUT having to have a menu bar or anything. Just go 18nm out due south from Pensacola and the NRST will also list CV69 on your nearest airports on GPS as well. This thing is excellent. I'm also hosting it right now with other KPNA add on scenery. Here is the file: https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/7811/fsx-pensacola-nas-carrier-trial-scenery/get/
