However the Compilers are the SP1a and not the lastest ones needed for what FSX:SE gave us.

It is important that whatever version of FSX you have you must also have the correct companion SDK version.

Ah, cheers for the info. That's a shame :(

Was hoping we could get a head-start with a bit of ingenuity and persistence. Oh well, patience (and may be a little prayer, bribe, praise... whatever) might get us a better conclusion to this issue soon :)

So, just to clarify, on my pc I only installed FSX:SE which version of SDK do I need for compatibility with Steam Edition:

1) SP2 10.0.61472

2) Acceleration 10.0.61637

3) Prepar3D 1.4

I own FSX boxed GOLD Edition so I can install from DVDs. Is it safe to install on the same machine where Steam Edition is installed?

Number 2 Acceleration 10.0.61637

or

Number 3 prepar3D 1.4

If you own the Gold Edition the SDK on the Acceleration DVD will work for FSX:SE however P3D 1.4 SDK is easier to install into a folder of your choice

Well, I went ahead to extract some missing executables from the SP1a installer provided. http://1drv.ms/1fdlnt2 Don't know if they work yet, going to test later with SBuilderX and see it's happy, going to work on extracting everything in the installer. XtoMDL seems to be in two pieces... I'm not guru enough to put them together at the moment.

As far as I know, C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX\SDK\Environment Kit\Autogen SDK is where ImageTool.exe, resample.exe, and Shp2Vec.exe go and SBuilderX seems pretty happy. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX\SDK\Environment Kit\BGL Compiler SDK seems to be where BglComp.exe goes and SBuilderX hasn't said anything yet. I'll be testing to see if these files I've attached above work. Upload of SP1a files is in progress as I type this. http://imgur.com/4UwTFfd

Well... results didn't go so well... SBuilderX didn't like the files at all... but anyways... the full installer's files if you want them: http://1drv.ms/1hDGHtA

Sorry for the spam, last one for the night, but SP2 ain't much more helpful... here's part of the file structure: http://imgur.com/JmnNYEv

Back to the drawing board.

The way I got this to work is......Install the sdk that came with FSX Gold. Then go into your fsx folder under Steam common FSX directory and open SDK. Inside you will see a folder named SP1a. Run the update. Once you have that done you will notice that the original C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit has the exe in the appropriate folders (bgl compiler SDK and Terrain SDK). Open your ADE and direct the forlders to the appropriate SDK's Under C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit. ADE will now be able to compile the airport!

ADE menu needs to point to the bglcomp file....that is where it lives in Stream.

IMHO developers should NOT have to re-write their installers... Steam should correct the file pointing issue. I have one very important 3rd party addon for my particular session .. where the owner is no longer around... so no way to re-write the installer package. That makes FSX-SE totally useless for my purpose. But, I am still trying to find a workaround. I will have to confirm with Jon... if ADE requires Simconnect... which is still not supporting this JAVA module in SE.

The ADE team are watching the situation with FSX:SE. At the moment it seems that the SDK is not complete and is missing the compilers. Perhaps Dovetail can comment on this? In the meantime those with the FSX SDK can create and modify airport that will work in FSX:SE

Although ADE currently does not look for or find the FSX:SE registry we are looking at how best to handle this. In any case users can set the folder settings manually in ADE.

Connecting ADE to FSX:SE is a matter of having a suitable version of FSUIPC installed. I see that Pete has now released a version 4.938 which should work with FSX:SE

Overall it is our intention to support FSX:SE. Members of the team including me have it installed.

At the moment for users who have FSX then the best method is to use that version and either copy their work over or point ADE to compile into FSX:SE. Eventually we are going to get users without FSX:SE who want to use ADE. We hope by then that the missing compilers will be made available by Dovetail.
