Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition

Vox ATC
Anyone using Vox ATC? I tried to give it a go and apparently when trying to bring up it's window it won't show up.

Have you installed the VoxATC panel into the aircraft you want to use. That's an essential step

Yes, ran the VA Panelselect tool and installed it for every plane after running the indexer. Are you currently using it? Is it working for you?
I haven't tried it with this steam edition no. I'll give it a go and get back to you.

Thank you, i am eagerly awaiting your response.

Ok yeah, I couldn't seem to get it to work with this Steam Version. It looks like it open for a split second initially and then just disappears. It also wasn't visible for me in the 2d panel.

I'd send VoxATC support an e-mail just to notify them that their current version doesn't work with the steam edition. I haven't dealt with them myself but i've heard the devs are really helpful in trying to solve problems.

Thanks for the answer. That's exactly what i experienced in the first try, however i managed to make it work, i un-installed and re-installed the program and also deleted the .cfg. Apparently it works now, will have to do some extensive testing.
If you are interested in someday exploring ATC with real people (and other real pilots), check out IVAO, VATSIM, or (if you have the boxed edition of FSX) Boston Virtual ATC. As much as VoxATC tries to create a realistic environment with voice recognition, there's nothing like flying with real people and controllers when it comes to realism.

All three of the groups listed above provide professional and realistic ATC that's nearly indistinguishable from what you'll hear on an actual frequency.

As much as I like these online networks I like having consistent ATC coverage. With networks like Vatsim and others i'm limited to flying at certain times and certain airports if I want ATC coverage. Their fly-in events can be fun as usually there is a guarantee of controllers.
But still the benefit with VoxATC comes with coverage wherever and whenever I want.

Glad you got it working Raz.

Thank you Rirdeg :). I too share the same opinion regarding multiplayer and ATC with real people. I tried to give it a shot and i wasn't so happy with it, mostly because the coverage was lacking in the regions i wanted to fly. Either the operators wheren't online or they gave up entirely. So yeah i find that Vox is the best alternative to "RL ATC" sure it isn't as complex but it does the job.
Fair enough...we all have our own experiences. Certainly it's necessary to find a community with operators that share your availability. Just wanted to see whether you had explored the option.
Raz - which .cfg did you remove? Can you perhaps elaborate a little on how you got VoxATC working for the Steam Edition? :-) I can't seem to get it functioning.

I switched back to the DVD edition until we get some more support for mods like PMDG and stuff that seems to have trouble running. But Vox Atc indeed works with Steam Edition. I however did the following on a clean Windows installation with only the Steam Edition of FSX installed.

As far as i can recall i installed Vox and like you couldn't get it to work at first (in my case the vox window wouldn't show up even though it was present in the views/instrument panels), then i have uninstalled it, i have manually deleted the Internal Workings folder from the appdata\roaming folder and also deleted fsx.cfg. After that i have ran FSX once so it can create it's cfg, installed Vox and registered it, i have than ran the indexer again just to be sure and shortly after ran the panel app which installs the vox panel into every aircraft in FSX.

After all of this i ran FSX again which also asked me to give permissions to vox's dll's and stuff and than placed myself at my local airport and tested the program out, clicked on views, instrument panel, vox atc and the window popped up this time, clicked enable and it ran the preliminary test stuff, after that i could ask for a circuit and all the other stuff and also tried loading a flight plan, that worked too. With everything working i than installed all the voxpop voices and other voices i have.
Thank you.

I finally got it working. After doing a clean install I still received a "FATAL ERROR", but that was simply because I did not have a flight plan loaded in FSX. Looking through the VoxATC log file, was not very helpful. :-P
im having the fatal error with vox too i run boxed version of fsx i bought vox almost 3 years ago still having same problem im using radar contact 4 is an awesome atc i have no problems
I have yet to get this to work. Thankfully, I only have the demo. But even with that, it seems to install everything, and even when i check the panel.cfg files everything seems to be in place. Once in the game, I get nothing from VoxATC, and I have no options to choose anything from my views/instruments. I am running windows 10 x64.....could that be the reason? I don't see anything else that it could be....
